Every Struggle Has a Reason

In the heart of an old forest, three little creatures lived not far from each other.

Olly the Owl was calm and observant, perched high in the oaks, watching the stars with quiet wisdom. Annie the Ant was always on the move, hauling crumbs, digging tunnels, and working shoulder to shoulder with her colony.

And then there was Cody the Caterpillar, who mostly sat on a leaf, staring up at the sky, feeling quite unsure.

“I don’t know why I’m here,” Cody sighed one morning. “You both seem to have a purpose. I just exist.”

Olly turned his head slowly, blinking in that thoughtful way owls do.

“Try seeing the good, Cody,” he said gently. “The breeze in the trees, the golden sunlight on your back, the quiet rhythm of life all around you. It all means something. You just have to slow down enough to notice.”

Annie paused in her tracks, adjusting the crumb on her back. “Or get busy. I have work to do, and that is what gives me purpose. When you give yourself to something bigger, you do not have time to feel lost.” She winked and scurried off.

Cody nodded, but deep down, nothing felt quite right. The days passed, and the feeling stayed with him like a quiet ache.

Then one evening, dark clouds gathered. A storm swept through the forest, shaking the trees and soaking the earth. Cody’s favorite leaf was torn away. In fear and confusion, he curled into himself and built a cocoon, not knowing what else to do.

There, wrapped in stillness, he sat for many days. Time seemed to disappear. But inside the darkness, something quietly began to change.

When the sun returned and the forest dried up, Cody did not crawl out.

He flew.

Not as the slow, uncertain caterpillar he once was, but as a butterfly, light and graceful, with colors he had never imagined.

He soared above the forest, gliding past Olly’s branch and Annie’s trail, filled with joy.

“Olly! Annie!” he called out. “So this was the reason?”

Annie looked up and grinned. “You bet it was, buddy. The storm did not break you. It transformed you.”

@thespiritualist

I resonate with Olly the Owl 🦉

The beauty of this story is it's integrity and the fact that it celebrated three different characters, all different but all integral and all with a role to play, the beauty of creation is that we are all different but also all valued 💜💕
