How do you self care? What are activities you do to love yourself ???
I have been subconsciously attracting people / mostly men that are under giving. And my counselor said it maybe because I am over giving to others and not giving to myself. It’s beginning to be annoying and exhausting not getting the same amount of energy as I give out. I need suggestions and tips on self love activities. Thanks for you advice and help.
I try to do one nice thing for myself a day or take an hour for myself a day.
@Almostthere2yrs hi! one thing i had to learn that self-care is about the small things and listening what you need. Self care can be letting yourself cry. Self care can be saying no to someone if you really dont want to do something. Self care is eating something healthy because you know your body deserves it. I dont think theres a perfect formula on how to practise self care and its very individual! But what might help you could be trying to treat yourself as a friend would. If your friend feels sad, what would you advice them to do? If they feel overwhelmed, what would you advice them to do?
Make yourself a cup of tea or coffee sit in a peaceful area of your home drink it sip by sip and appreciate yourself for making the most amazingly delicious tea in the world. 😊
The easiest way to take care of yourself is to calm yourself down before bed. I have always been highly emotional and difficult work only adds to my problems. So I came up with an evening ritual for myself.I am taking a hot bath in which I add essential oil. The choice depends on the mood but I like lavender for the most part (or rose) - https://www.essentialnaturaloils.com/natural-essential-oils Then I meditate in bed and fall asleep in the process. This keeps my emotional balance.
@Almostthere2yrsreleasing negative thoughts and criticism towards yourself and embracing more loving thoughts. I also talk about how our thoughts create our actions and therefore our lives.
Meditation has helped me a lot to practice inner peace. There’s a free guided meditation app I use called Insight Timer. I also find journaling and spending time outside in nature (when weather’s nice) helpful. Exercising outside feels refreshing. I’ve listened to self-help podcasts (ex. Rachel Hollis, Brendan Burchard) to give me insight into self-growth and self-care as well.
