My Dad passed away yesterday
My Dad had been in the hospital with cancer, and they called yesterday to say he'd passed away. I hadn't been able to see him for 2 days due to having no transport.
It'd been a difficult time for weeks/months, as well, because I'd fallen out with my sibling over our different opinions how Dad should be cared for.
Right now, it really feels as though there were 2 different people, the Dad I was caring for at home, who could get around with his stick and was still very much my Dad. And the one who quickly became much more seriously ill and then wasted away in that hospital bed. I feel relief for the one who'd been suffering in hospital, now being at peace. But my mind can't seem to comprehend that the other Dad, the one I remember from the family home home, is actually gone, too. It seems like I could just pick up the phone or get on the bus and talk to him. I guess that's denial.

I’m really sorry you lost your dad.
Holding the version of him you knew at home and the one in the hospital at the same time is so hard. None of what you’re feeling is wrong.

I'm so sorry for your loss 🩷
May your dad rest in peace 🩵
