My current alone situation
I’m 42 years old and don’t have any children. I’m divorced and currently living alone, well, except I have a cat lol. Both my parents have passed away also, like other people in this group. I’ve had a LOT of trouble keeping jobs due to my anxiety and depression and past relationship trauma. But thankfully, right now, I do have a job, even though it’s been highly stressful and I’m having trouble keeping it. Ive called out sick to work more than I should have, due to my mental health issues, and my managers and coworkers aren’t happy about it, so my job is on the line. But I am just going to continue to do the best I can do and go to work as much as I can, and if they fire me or write me up, then that’s just what happens and I accept that, I guess. But until then, I’m going to keep trying my best to stay employed there.
Ive tried to date but it’s been pretty discouraging, so I have stopped trying because it’s just better for me mentally to not put myself through that any more.
Mostly my problems come from not having a good support group due to my lack of family and/or friends. I am isolated and also self-isolate even more when I get stressed. So I’m trying to work and force myself to talk more and socialize more, even though I don’t want to.
I try to make myself go to church because the social aspect and the community does greatly improve my mental health each week. But when I can’t make myself go, then my work life suffers because that’s when I usually get super depressed and call out sick to work.
I’m on new medication so I’m trying to adjust and I go see my therapist about every other week. I only have one friend that I can actually vent to a little, everyone else seems to caught up in their own stuff to handle my state. So, I’m on here to just open up and talk about my life, hopefully by doing so, also, de-stress myself some.
@ScarletKind
Your situation is really difficult and it makes me deeply respect you for at least trying to live and do something to improve it. You are great, even if you are not in the best position now. Unfortunately, sometimes the world is not what we want and what happens in our lives does not really make us happy. But we also have the opportunity to change at least something every day. A small part. Perhaps expanding your social circle will really help you feel better morally. One or two friends, I hope you will find them here. There are many support communities here. As for the church, I do not know how sincere and open people are there, or they are influenced by customs, but if you do not feel good there - it is normal. Medicines are already good, they will support you, but it is also important to hold on and keep yourself in hand. You are valuable because you have your own uniqueness, your habits, your interests and your vision of the world. Do not listen to those who devalue it. Accept the situation, treat yourself with love, no matter how difficult it is. The main thing is not to give up. Good luck!

Thank you for introducing yourself! I’m new here too and also looking to expand my circle of friends.
Like you, I have also had a lot of job trouble in my past. As soon as I got out of college, I would have a new job every year up into my 30s (some years I wouldn’t make it 4 months before I quit). In your current position, I love that you are committed to doing the best you can regardless of setbacks and obstacles. I admire that so much because it took me a long time to get to a place of self-acceptance and valuing oneself.
I hope you can find that good supportive group of friends here on 7Cups (definitely count me among them).
Looking forward to hearing from you!
