Struggling about what direction to go now

I am at a point in my life where I have lost almost everything. The only thing I have left is my relationship with my son and I fear that she will try to take that from me too.

Quick recap of the last 4 years of my life: My ex told me that she had had an affair and that it was my fault. At the time, I believed her and started therapy to “fix” myself. Over that first year, her one affair turned into 5 affairs… It shattered me… She repeatedly told me that they were all my fault, made comments about how others were more attractive than me, and continued to lie. I thought that this was the worse she could do to me… but no. She lied to police and said that I had assaulted her. I have never experienced this level of betrayal. She used that to leverage me out of my home.

It has been a year and I am still pretty broken. I am trying to put myself back together. I started going to the gym, trying to make friends, going to therapy, and still being an active father to my son. She keeps playing all sorts of mind games with me and I live in constant fear that she will try to take custody of my son from me. I have had my son the majority of the time since 2024, so this would be terrible if if it happened.

That is lot of trauma that you have been dealt. I am impressed with you as a father, what a great role model you are to your son. You are teaching him perseverance. Your endeavors to improve yourself and to overcome your obstacles are commendable. You make me think of Rudyard Kipling's poem, IF. I hope this all works out in your favor.
