grief and starting a new relationship

my crush is deceased and i loved them, spiritually when they died. which is what's really different. now recently, I've been in a new relationship and i mentioned to the person how I've had another crush, ar first it went a bit south and then it went back to ok. nothing physically abusive or mentally happened, it was just some time in therapy and all to get over things really and overcome struggles. Now, I love this person physically and mentally but not spiritually because that space is reserved for my deceased crush.

now for those of you who may not understand, imagine having a dead wife/spouse and starting a new relationship, but you "havent gotten over them". I have no desire to "get over" mourning because I am that devoted, it would hurt me. but how would I balance grieving and starting a new relationship.

My heart goes out to you. Holding onto such a deep spiritual love for your deceased crush while navigating a new relationship is tender. It's understandable you want to honor that bond.

Perhaps it's less about "balancing" and more about allowing both loves their own space. Your current partner loves the you of today, including past loves. At the end of the day, be gentle with yourself; grief will have its moments. Nurture your new love while honoring your past.
