Depression Room (Seek and Provide Support)
Hey everyone! I wanted to touch base on some things in the Depression Support room for members and guests.
The past two nights, I have seen listeners coming in the LCR and LSR asking if mod's can go into this room specifically. I was wondering if we would all be able to come together and find a solution to the problem, as it is a very busy room. Any idea's on how we can tackle this issue?

Looks like if there's an issue with trolls, it couldn't be like.. a manifestation, could it? I'd say that muting a troll would fix it, no?
@MsEmma Typically yes, but in this case a lot of the others in the room are following the trolls as well so it's like you have to mute the whole room to get order back.
@Dillion so maybe, kinda like how you'd kill a zombie, the whole thing keeps going until you stab it in the brain?
The brain = original troll
You'd recognize that person by it being the rudest I think?
@MsEmma I did get it back after a mute was put in place, but I honestly think one mod going in alone is possibly harmful to that one person as a whole group may attack that one person going in alone, I think a good solution may be sending 2 or more mods at once if it is super busy in there, that way they aren't the only one sending warnings, or trying to restore order. Just a thought that passed.
@Dillion True, that's a good idea, I'm with you on that, definitely.
Let's get the leaders of this support team involved as they are the primary source for guidance on this issue. @MissZ @Acinonyx
I'm aware of some of the issues going on in DS (members) lately, and some recurring incidents there, which are definitely not troll-related, but are still causing disputes recently anyway.
More information on the issues happening would be greatly appreciated, however, so if it's not what I think it is, we can collectively come up with a method of support that's effective. These parameters include time of incidents (whether they're regularly occurring during the same periods), cause, individuals/types causal of the issue, and individuals/types who perpetuate harmful or difficult behaviour in the room.
If the nature of the disturbances are troll/spam related, then there's very little MIssZ or I can do aside from trying to be in the rooms like any mod if/when incidents occur so we can to limit those interactions and potentially prevent them from occurring.
If it's regular member or guest-based, there may be a little bit more sway, but it depends on member/guest receptivity to what people say, and how it's said. People who are emotionally unstable (or just out for reactions) tend not to be or hear the clearest voices of reason, so it might be a case of just having consistent, fair reminders if things kick off like they're bound to do in any environment where people with touchy subjects, strong emotions and unique personalities come in contact.
Overall, I'd say that aside from just being regular mods and perhaps keeping a bit of a closer eye on the DS community, not much action needs to be taken. I'd definitely advise anyone called into DS who feels they're in over their head to use the "emergency mod request form" at the bottom of the chatroom rules. Anyone is also more than welcome to PM me if something happens--if I'm around and able, I'm more than happy to step in and see if I can't help smooth things out.
@Acionyx I mod members DS for about 4 hours a day usually I think I can give you a pretty good overview of what's going on if you would like to PM me
@Acinonyx helps when I spell your name right lol
