Depression Support 1 Update
Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that Depression Support 1 will soon be badge locked, so that only those with the Group Chimer badge may access it.
To earn the Group Chimer badge, you must have at least 5 group chats.
If you're a regular user of the room, it's likely nothing will change for you in terms of being able to access DS1. You can check your profile if you're unsure whether or not you have the badge.
Anyone who is unable to access this room can continue seeking support in Depression Support 2 or the Depression Community Room.
This badge lock is being put into place to prevent harmful users from returning on multiple accounts, and to protect the regular users in that space.
I will update this thread once the badge lock is in place.
Thanks for reading! :)
Hello?
What counts as a chat?group chat or 1 on 1 chat?
@Firecracker1
For the group chimer badge, group chats are required
Has anyone figured out how to best that demon of loneliness? I get my most depressed when I am completely and utterly alone physically... I just got out of a long term relationship and I am having a bit issue trying to not just sleep all day, remembering to eat, or just plain taking care of myself overall. This community has helped a lot, but it isn't the same as having someone sleeping next to you every night unfortunately.
@Skatekeys
No, it's not, but neither is sleeping in the bed with a person who no longer loves or care about you. Get a stuffed animal to put in the bed. There's a book called "Coming Apart" by Daphne Rose Kingman that discusses breakups from the perspective of the leaver and the one who was left. Also look at " I Love You, But I'm Not In Love With You" by Andrew G. Marshall for explanation about why this happens (not for reconciling).
@Minxx Thanks! I love books, and I do have a stuffed animal I sleep with. I'll check these out!
I feel like I'm losing my best friend/ sister
@Ijodjwodh sorry to hear you feel like you're loosing best friend / sister. Have you told her this?
i don't know how this works. And I don't know what to do with myself anymore. It's more than just depression that I'm dealing with. So much more. And I don't knew where to begin.
Hey guys. I'm new to this but I'm willing to talk to any of you if you're struggling. I've been dealing with depression for years and I know what you're feeling. 💗
I fear success more than failure. I know this, yet I can't help but think that there'sa good statistical reason for my belief.
Hello I just want to say that Im sad all TVE timé and dont know why. Just tired to cry all the timé (╯︵╰,)
Hello... I'm New in here... I feel like I'm falling to pieces... I lost all my friends because of my boyfriends jeaulous... He couldnt see me talking to anyone... And now, he leaved me... I think he was cheating on me... He trated me like a bitch, junk... And now my parents, Who I am supporting since 5 years ago, is getting me crazy... They dont like me, They Just wants me to recieve my works payment and give it to them... I have no life, I ve been working since all my life to have nothing on it... I m tired of all, I dont know Who I am anymore... Dont know what to do anymore... I Just wants to escape anywhere else, sometimes I rather die than being living this life I have... I'm so tired of everything... So tired of looking for a boy Who really luves me, Who really cares about me... So tired of try to have a life, a real life... Feel like I'm nothing on this world... Like I'm an insignificant bug witch is ready to be smashed out at anytime...
@SusanaFernandes I too took care of my mom & have a contoling husband... lost a lot of friends ... but have held onto a few, they are the ones that saw through him & kept loving me / very few though. I understand is hard. Let go of the anger... try to find the beauty in each day surrounding you... there is light in the darkness. Hang in there... forgive - them & yourself. Hugs, H
@SusanaFernandes My father did the same thing to me. I eventually had to cut the cord myself and be done with him. No contact. No nothing.
Don't worry about finding a significant other. We all want love, but remember to take care of yourself and pursue your goals first. The right guy will come along. And, after being in abusive situation bloke that, give yourself some time to recover, reconnect with your friends, or maybe make new friends.
Learn to be your own best friend, one day at a time. It will soften the blows you go through.
I believe in you. You can make it and you will do a wonderful job and will be successful (whatever that word means to you). You are a beautiful person who will survive, and grow, and continue on.
I'm losing control. My friends know I'm depressed, but I constantly feel like they hate me, as resent me when I'm there. I get touchy at everything they do that could be called offensive, and end up hating them for it. My parents dont know im depressed, or that I think about suicide everyday. I have physical illnesses because I'm so stressed all the time even though I'm Only 15. Every time I get happy, I remind myself that I'm depressed and I stop smiling. I want to leave and never come back. I hate !myself and my life. I feel like it's to late to save myself.
@898900
It's never too late to save yourself. But you can't do it alone and from the sounds of things you need people in your corner. This is a great start. Can you talk to a Doctor? Are your parents a safe place and if so - what's stopping you from talking to them?
Finally in those moments, when you do smile. Let yourself. Or at the very least remember those moments - and that you have them. We are more than just one thing, you can be depressed and yet have times when you smile. You can be happy and have times when you get sad. Try to find more of those moments of smiling and maybe reach out to others close to you that can help. It's so scary to reach out - but it's also scary to think of dying all the time. You face scary everyday by yourself, you can face scary things like reaching out too and if it doesn't go well the first time - keep trying. Some people should not be in the helping profession - but many should be and you will find them if you keep reaching out. :) until then one moment at a time and I'm so glad you're using 7 cups as a place to reach out.
@Trying87 I can't talk to them. I can't bring myself to do it and I'm oo young to go to a doctor without them.
@898900
Can I ask why you can't bring yourself to tell them? You could always tell them that you're not feeling well and want to go to the doctor and then talk to your doctor alone. Or do you have an aunt or uncle you could trust? Maybe a specific teacher? I know it's terrifying. I'm so sorry you're going through this. ❤️
@Trying87 two years ago, I told my mum via text. I will never forget the look she gave me when she came home and she looked at me like i wasn't he child. Life she failed as a parent I can't do that again.
@898900
hmmmm. I'm so sorry you had that experience. Sometimes parents aren't the best people to tell because they aren't impartial - can't get out of their own emotions and failings. I hope you know depression is not something you've done wrong. It just happens.
Another great resource would be looking into your community for hotlines. Some places have mental health phone lines that can connect people with the help they need. Maybe you can google to find out if you have anything like that where you live. They are often anonymous to start as well and can maybe help figure out a solution. What about the other options - another adult or teacher?
@Trying87 I know no teacher or adult well enough to confide in them. My friends know. I constantly feel like this depression is my fault and that I should get over it. But j also feel like I need help. You see my issue ?
@898900
I do see, and I completely understand. But please hear this - This is not your fault. There is nothing you have done wrong or to be ashamed of. For many people it's just a chemical imbalance, not something that you can will or control away. Often there's something you might want to work on with therapy.
Regardless.......I'm glad you have friends and that you've found 7 cups, but things can get so much better - I promise. It's hard, but worth it in the long run. A lot of places have hotlines or telephone lines that can help you get in touch with people in your community for help. You could maybe google those? Of if you have some really good friends that understand maybe their parents would understand and would be more impartial? IF you were to try and get help - can you think of anyways you'd like to do that? A lot of people suffer from depression and I know it is so personal to express to someone else. But you've done it here, in this forum. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to support you or encourage you. :)
@898900
you can also maybe try some one on one chats on 7 cups and work with a listener - again if you get one listener who isn't a great fit, just try someone else :)
@Trying87 I've had three listeners and theyve all been the opposite if helpful so far. I don't feel comfortable talking. Because it's making me Ill. I told my mother that my sickness was down to stress, but I came so close to just saying it. The words were in my lips. In life, I do everything I can to avoid an awkward situation, and I honestly belive that as soon as I start talking about it, all my sytoms and stress and anxiety will go away, because all of it was only in my head. This IS my fault, so I ahev to deal with it on my own, wihtout dragging family or friends down with me.
@898900
can I ask why you think it's your fault? I completely get awkward conversations....I also have an awkward and horribly exposing conversation I need to have with someone and I really, with all my being, don't want to. But I'm torn too, like you, because eventually things could get better. It's easy for someone else to say to talk to someone - but it's hard to do things yourself.....it's hard for me to speak up and say what I think I need to..... I wonder if we made a pact. I'll have one of the worst conversations of my life - and you'll have one of the hardest ones in your life? Just a thought. See if you tell someone you're depressed - I can't not tell my someone what I need to - and maybe vice versa. No pressure at all. Just a weird thought I had :)
I'm so sorry you haven't found the listeners helpful. Has this been helpful at all? Is there anything you think that would be helpful? Also if speaking is too hard would writing a letter to your mom or someone else be easier?
@Trying87
Is there anyway I can message you one on one?
I told my mum today, just blurted out I am depressed to her. She laughed in my face. Said it's not how it manifests that I'm not struggling out of bed and shes not seen me be sad and I'm smiling. She didn't even take me romotley seriously.
@898900 I am so sorry your mother handled your bravery in such an inappropriate way. Your feelings have resonated with me quite a bit and even though I could be old enough to be your Mother, I understand right where you are coming from.
There are many reasons a person can fall unto depression. An event, illness or just a chemical imbalance and none of these are your fault. Mine was actually a combination of a condition I have dealt with since a child and a series of traumatic events. What I found that helped was I typed out a list of things I loved to do before I became depressed. Starting out with just one (cycling) because exercise has been know to help with depression, I got back on my bike. Then try to find people who like the same things you used to get excited about. Maybe there are clubs at your school or neighborhood? Being around passionate people tends to be contagious.
Remember, you are brave to have written about your situation. That is such a huge step! Keep pushing in the right direction. Every day will. To always be good, but just one is a start. Once you get there, remember what you did to feel this great. Use all of your senses and try to replicate the feeling and hopefully you will start to have more,good days.
Be strong!
@898900
Hello! I'm sorry it's taken so long for me to respond. I have unfortunately been offline and dealing with some suprise stuff. I hope you are doing okay. I'm still trying to figure out the site but not sure there is a way to private message through here.
Again I am very sorry to have fallen off the planet for a little while. I really do hope you are doing okay and I am wishing you all the best. Feel free to let me know how things are going.

@898900
You have so much life to live. When I was in high school, I used to tell myself I can't wait until I go to college to do what I want to do. This is also the time to start thinking about what and who do you want to be when you grow up, eg engineer, architect, astronaut, mathmetician, etc. My point is, try to find something that you can hold on to or aim for in the future to help you get through the present. BTW, college was kind of cool.
@898900 dont worry, it will never be ur fault to be depressed and u should love ur self more. Try not to think about depressful things, think in a positive way. Or u could just ask someone from ur family that u trust to help u. Go out for a walk everyday, do things that make u happy like reading music or anything.We are all here to support u. Dont give a chance for anyone to step on ur feelings and hurt u. Stay close to people who truly love u ❤️
@Warda971 💚💛💜💙
@898900
agreed! Those friends and family that love you will support you :) the rest are not worth your time :)
@898900 do u feel any change now?
thought asking about how u feel might help u
dont worry
there are alot of people out there who truly love u
