Group Chat Advice?
I've tried going on group chat as a listener but find it somewhat intimidating because of the flood of messages on the group chats? I also have not had any of the group chats I've participated in show up on my achievements page. Anyone else had that problem?
Moved to listener side.
One group support chat on your profile is equivalent to twenty-five messages sent in the group support rooms, which includes all those open to members and guests -- such as the waiting room, depression support, and share your story. A listener's role in these rooms tends to be more of a passive one. Often, the guests and members do a great job at supporting each other. Occasionally, however, a listener hand is needed to help guide things along. The Group Mod Zone section on the forums has lots of info about how to handle those rooms as a listener. Though the advice is catered to group support mods, non-mods can still benefit.
I love what@AdventuRin had to say about this.
I want to add the fact that we, as listeners, can help by congratulating a member for sharing with the group because that can be such a daunting thing to do. Saying something like, "Thank you so much for sharing that, XX. I know that must have been hard to do" is really helpful to show members we care and to promote a healthy environment of sharing. Another thing you cando is show empathy! If someone says they had an awful day and another member asks why. You could say something like "XX, I am so sorry to hear that. I am glad you came here for support."
You can use your active listening skills as in chats, but it is just a little different and you have to try it out a few times to really get the hang of what works.
Feel free to reach out if you have questions or need some more help. :)
Didn't mean to post this as a reply to your post, @AdventuRin! Sorry![]()
I really agree with what you've pointed out. ❤️❤️
the chats you have in the group chatroom don't show up on your impact report they just show up on your certification page. Yes, it can be overwhelming because so many people. Try to focus on one person for a little while, then another for a little while, so on so forth. But try to get to at least a couple people so people don't feel left out.
