In a continued effort to increase safety and ensure that each Group Support Room is adequately moderated, we will be making some changes to some of the rooms.

As of this Friday, January 4th, at 12:00 pm ET, the following changes will be made:

- Depression Support (adult room) will be closed and become a pop-up room to be used for scheduled discussions and sessions.

- Depression Chat will remain open 24/7 and will be available for anyone needing support for depression.

- LGBTQ+/MOGII Support (adult room) will be closed and become a pop-up room to be used for scheduled discussions and sessions.

- LGBTQ+/MOGII Community will remain open 24/7 and will be available for anyone needing support for LGBTQ+/MOGII issues

- Family Support will be closed and become a pop-up room to be used for scheduled discussions and sessions.

- Disability Support will be closed and become a pop-up room to be used for scheduled discussions and sessions.

Please let me know if you have any questions about these upcoming changes.

A lot of the time people in chat rooms, which are a hand full of the same people, are just there to hang out-- jumping chat to chat to socialize in unprofessional manner. I myself seen this and others have mentioned it, take chat down if there are no mods because I see people use whatever chat they want despite the topic to just hang out and keyboard socialize--again maybe if it were all in the approproiat room but it is not. Some of these are very rude and more often then not are newer users trying to be funny or edgy.

@Kate Maybe it could be a good idea to link the follow-up post on this first post, so that people know about it.

i am glad to be able to help people and make them feel comfortable talking to me. i have studied psychology and personality disorders for many years and work with people in person also. anything i can do to help someone, then i will.

I don't understand why the LGBTQ+ room and the depression room would be closing, seeing as these two rooms usually have a lot of discussion taking place within them, and usually have a huge population. They're also really great for people helping other people, as these people aren't listeners and can provide various solutions and help to those who need it. Especially the LGBTQ+ room, everyone is so nice there, and actual problems do get talked out.

I think the problem is that the rooms might not have enough mods to be able to keep up with the amount of conversation.

But how to become a mod isn't really posted on this site, unless you search up a very specific thread or you ask someone who is a mod. And even then it's a time consuming process, searching for the information to becoming a mod and then actually trying to apply for that. If that information was somewhere accessable than maybe more people would apply and maybe that would help boost the rooms economy and help with any problems that occur.

I get that you're trying to bring the rooms down to a manageable level that the mods can handle, and i understand your reasoning behind that, but why take out two of the biggest populations of chat rooms and hinder those specific populations of people?

@raspberryBanana8328 Hi! Both Depression and LGBTQ+ still have 24/7 rooms.
