Hi all.

I am new to moderating. In my "real life" i work peer support part time and have been trained in that model extensively. I came to cups to help out and my hours were not the best to apply what i know to help out this community. I think this is very sound and a good place but see lots of room for improvement. I will start with the moderator training. It was good. Very basic and all Was assigned a "mod buddy" but they never appeared. Asking a few others they said, "dont expect that." Two, I feel team work is essential in doing this. I have been in rooms and don not expect a hi or even a greeting all the time, but once in a while its nice to hear that and see some other people sitting in the room doing nothing. I make it a goal to engage chatters and get to know them as i was and am still a member. I think this place could improve a lot in thi area and as a by product take the "mod hate" down a lot. I have found a few mods to be really immature but for the most part really good overall. Its challenging doing this online and respect that. Its hard to keep on the same page when we all have very different lives and volunteer for a site such as this. While i do have my criticisms i want to add you are are fantastic people for all you do to make this site happen! Thank you for listening. Justin

@jga75 - Thanks for sharing your experiences! It's definitely concerning to hear that many mod buddies aren't reaching out to the new mods! Tagging in @Heather to make sure she sees this :)
