Need Help In Finding The Right Direction Of My Life
Hey Everyone,
This is my first post here & I'm gonna introduce myself before asking for help. I am a writer & I help others feel good about themselves through my words... But the problem is that I don't know how to make myself feel good about myself & my talents... I lost my job recently because of some office politics & while I am looking for a new job I have started feeling that maybe I should change my career path & discover some better path for myself. It's a lot of risk & I usually never worried of taking risks but now I do. I had my father & my grandfather as my moral support earlier they supported my decisions & guided me through my decisions but I've lost them both. My father left me 5 years back & my grandfather expired 7 months back & I've been feeling lost since then. I regret all of my decisions now I overthink a lot & most importantly I've lost my self confidence. Therefore, I am here looking for help, support, & advice from someone who can understand me & my problem...
Hello @insanelycreative99, welcome to the community!
It's amazing to know you're a writer and your words help people! That's a very kind thing to do!
However i can understand how it is to not feel the same way yourself, can be quite draining indeed!
I hear you're feeling demotivated and questioning your life choices, looking forward to make some decisions that might turn your days around for better!
To begin with, I'm really sorry for your loss, grief indeed can do it for us, change us in many ways, making us feel more stuck and lonely without the ones we once trusted the most and who had our back! Your feelings are super valid and you're allowed all your time to process your emotions!
I get how easy it is to overthink our past choices, and to worry excessively about our future ones, feeling lack of confidence within self is a reasonable parcel of an anxious mind, struggling with alot of things at once.
I'd like to assure you that, you're not alone feeling this way, the best of people struggle with overthinking and anticipating things, honestly though, it is no surprise that we should try living more in the present and try to do what feels right in a rather 'near-future' sighted perception, no amount of efforts can change the past and no amount of thinking can direct the course of our future, however the good part? We can create our own future as how we'd like it to be, it is certainly no one day task though, and not magical either, but we can definitely try and take small steps at a time, they may or may not seem enough, but we trying and moving forward, and that's already better than staying stuck where we once were.
I hear you're contemplating a career change, yes it is indeed one big decision but hey hey, it is also one amazing one, and I'm so proud of you for even considering the idea to better support yourself through doing something that you'll enjoy more also. Might help to answer some questions to yourself, what is making you consider a career change?, What was something that you didn't like about your previous/ current career/ work life?, What kinds of careers you now feel inclined towards?, What skills, qualifications would you require to do well in that new career?, How willing you are to invest all the time and efforts in this new journey?, How positively and in what ways this new phase will impact your life? (This answer will also help to motivate you to give it a shot)- basically questions that will help you to introspect your current situation and explore your feelings and thoughts, leading you to reach to some clarity as to how and what might help you to become a better version of yourself and live a more fulfilling life, one that you feel comfortable in and happy in!
There's a lot to consider, think, feel, introspect, plan and do but you're here, you're voicing your concerns, reaching out for support, being open to walk through this journey and that's something to be proud of for sure, *pats your back*. Take it one step, one day at a time, you might not believe in yourself wholeheartedly at the moment, and it is okay, but i hope you believe that you're reach that place someday certainly. Rooting for you and wishing you the best! Keep walking! ❤️
