Advice for Overweight Runner?

Hi there! I'm really trying to get into running because it helps with my anxiety. But I am pretty far overweight. I think I qualify as obese and because of my meds its hard to lose weight quickly. I want to run though and I was wondering if anyone has any tips or advice for bigger runners? I know it will take a long time before I'm able to even run a mile but I'd really like to get there!

I want to wish you good luck in achieving your one-mile goal! I think my only advice is that you need to know how much your body can handle at the moment, and not go past that boundary. If you overstretch it, you might hurt yourself. For example, if you are only able to run a fourth of a mile, that's fine! Don't try to go even a fraction more than the fourth! Instead, maybe try to run thirty seconds faster the next time you run a fourth of a mile. After you get comfortable (give or take 2 -3 months) maybe then you can try running a third of a mile, and so on.
