I've wanted to Box my whole life, I have no idea why but here I am, finally giving it a shot.

Last Monday, I went to my firdt session. I'm usually confident and bubbly, but I've always hated being the new kid. To make me more nervous - when I walked in, I found that I was the only female there.

I wanted to walk back out but i thought let me suck this up like a champ. I did the session, I felt great. But I spent the last 3 days recovering from inflammation between my knuckles and some muscle aches - it's all normal apparently!

I shall update you all after the next session.

@SurviversThrive

That is so awesome of you! In my experience, I've often found that when I push myself past my comfort zone, I just as often end up feeling proud of myself after the fact.

And being in my 30s now, I'm all too cognizant of not letting opportunities pass me by. Not so much in a FOMO context, but I just don't want to be left with a ton of regrets when it comes to not pursuing passions.

Good on you, seriously!

@sereneSunset26 aww thank you, i appreciate your support. I agree that we should never pass by our opportunities because some only ever come once. I learnt this myself over the past couple of years when i've had certain opportunities but i allowed other people's opinions to put me off & now regret not taking those chances.

I definitely feel amazing that I'm finally taking part in boxing. It feels like I'm doing something for ME you know? Not for work, not for money, not for someone else . Just something for me to enjoy.

UPDATE

So i went to my second session of boxing on monday, i forgot to write up an update after the session.

I decided to go in before everyone else got there this time so i could be more comfortable - rather than walk in and all eyes on me.

I realised from the session that i have a lot more to learn than expected. Hell i got a really really long way to go. I think i've already started some bad habits so i need to undo them asap. Otherwise I am really enjoying it. The guys are slowly warming up to me too.

UPDATE

So yesterday I had boxing again but this time I didn't go. I don't know why I was holding myself back coming up with excuses to avoid going. I said it's way too cold out there, too dark and dangerous, and also that i just felt tired.

But on the inside, i was fighting a feeling I didn't want to acknowledge, but I'm going to acknowledge it here. I was feeling anxious and I decided not to go in order to avoid this feeling - that was the real reason i guess (and partially laziness).

I think i still just feel awkward. I know that i am the newest person and least skilled and also being the only girl i feel self-conscious like all eyes are on me. Usually i don't mind attention, but not if people can see my flaws, you know what i mean?

@SurviversThrive

Totally! I understand that feeling of newbie fright. My first time learning a sport or exercise I feel that all the time! But I'm really encouraged that you're continuing on this commitment and I hope you find a lot of enjoyment from this activity! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing this update! I was I a similar situation today…went to the gym and thought about taking a yoga class, but I was afraid I would be the only one there or some other embarrassing thing would happen. It was silly!!! I looked in the class and there were all kids of people there of all ages and abilities. I’m totally going next time! Stay strong. You got this!

@sympatheticMoon7457 ahhh I'm so glad you pushed away those thoughts and went to the class in the end. Sometimes it really is the anticipations that stresses us more than the actual thing we're anticipating!

Yes definitely go again, yoga is amazing!
