Return to Yourself
After several years of hardship I have finally been able to make my health a priority again. Returning to a plant-based diet has been one of the best things I could have done for myself. I am feeling healthy, true energy, and better sleep.
What are your stories? What health benefits have you opted for over a meat-based diet?
Thanks!
This is a lovely post, @blitheSun94 thank you for sharing! I have to admit that, even though I do prefer a plant based diet, my main motivation has little to do with health, but nevertheless, I found that I have more energy this way, and never feel tired after a meal. My diet is much more diverse since I have stopped eating animal products and I am much more open to the idea of eatinghealthy foods, and my body and mind are grateful.
Of course, it is much easier in spring and summer when we have fresh fruits and vegetables so naturally, my diet tends to get much healthier in those months.
Maku,
You're welcome! :) Thank you for sharing. It is interesting that so many people associate vegetarian/vegan diets with elimination when in all actuality it forces versatility. I completely agree with what you said. I can admit that I am not particularly conflicted about animal activism, although I find factory farming and the food industry in general utterly distasteful. These choices allow me to protect myself and promote wellness simultaneously. I made my first batch of tofu tonight. Any tips!?
I saw benefits since the first week as vegetarian. My digestion improved a lot, feel more energy, very comfortable sleep. I start making exercise, and the combination is great, I feel very light. After some months my skin is more hydrated and elastic.
I had to note that right now I'm not 100% vegetarian, I'm making my transition, I wonder how it would be as a total vegetarian.
I completely fell off the vegetarian wagon due to my mental health issues and living situation. I miss it.
@blitheSun94
It's okay! I've definetly fallen off the wagon before, too. Have you thought about trying to slowly incorporate vegan/vegetarian habits? I know one of the biggest reasons for me falling off the wagon was because I quit cold turkey. Also, maybe think about only keeping vegan/vegetarian food options in your house. If money is an issue, buy in bulk, frozen, or seasonal! If you have anymore questions or need some advice, I'm here!
Best of luck

Thanks for the tips. It's true I do things 100% or not at all. I have been gradually tapering toward healthier choices but I live in a house with 7 people so it can be tricky. (Hopefully only a little while longer, we are house shopping!) I look forward to having more control over my diet upon moving out. The hardest way to maintain healthy lifestyle changes is by moving in with grandma, lol.
@blitheSun94
That's awesome! And I completly get how hard it is to be a vegan/vegetarian in a house where people aren't. Currently, I'm the only veg in my house and literally every week I get asked if i miss eating meat products or get called "veg girl" and I've been a vegetarian for 2 years. haha
@coffeelover1218
Very true! People also love to judge others for being different. I'll never understand why people care so much about what I eat, ya know?
@blitheSun94
I know! Fortuneatly I have a few friends, who although are not vegetarian, love learning about it and don't make me feel anyless because of my beliefs. I hope you have the same!! If not, this is a great place to find people who feel the same way you do. :)
GOOD JOB!!
vegetarism defenitly have a lot of positive effects !
