For me, I have tried meditation and getting more exercise to help me fall asleep at night time. I don't suffer from Hypersomnia but I know friends and some family that do, and they say that exercise helps them as well! Share what works for you here! Please note we cannot mention any specific medication names, just general drug classes, ex: Anti Anxiety medication.

I found that a regular exercise routine would help me tire myself out, I used to go for a 40 minute run in the morning, then do weights in the afternoon. But if your bipolar like me that may only have little effect. Another method I am currently using is writing in a journal a bout my day or things that give me anxiety, I really try to exhaust writing about anything and everything that comes to mind. Then I usually feel more relaxed, but if you feel you're still not quiet ready to sleep, read a book. Avoid watching TV, playing video games, or playing on your phone, as they will keep your mind stimulated making it more difficult to sleep.

Interestingly enough, most of my migraine medication has to be taken at night because it also treats insomnia

I promise I am not just saying this haha, but I have found that just taking 20 mins to myself in my room and turning on the radio and dancing my heart out like there's no tommorow makes me happy and calm and I sleep better! yes@Dillion

@Dillon

If I am on the computer after 7.30pm, it's guarenteed that I won't sleep well that night. It's well known that you should switch off computers and phones at least 2hours before going to bed because you can't switch off mentally! I suspect you wouldn't be able to do that for one night Dillon frown Like to take up the challenge? cool

oooh! Thanks for the tag!

Fighting with my insomnia is a daily battle. I use all the tricks that I have up my sleeve some nights. I have a meditation program called "relax" that seems to work the best for me!!

@Dillion I have found that cutting toxic people out of my life has helped a lot. I also feel that focusing on yourself and needs can help a lot too. It is ok to say no sometimes.
