Frequently, in cases of anxiety and depression, sleep-regulating hormones and neurological agents are either severely increased or decreased by your body. This is a likely culprit or factor in your situation. But only a doctor and some tests can you tell if that's true in any individual case.

Good luck!

@ladylazarus1971 So you're saying that anxiety and stuff can lead to either sleeping too much or not enough?

Absolutely 100%! And it's a vicious cycle, since poor sleep can exacerbate mood problems, making them worse, which then feeds back into sleep disturbances. It can be a tough nut to crack.

@ladylazarus1971 And is there a way to stop anxiety to finally be able to sleep again? Because all the bad stuff are coming back so it would be great to know how to be able to sleep

There are all kinds of methods to try-- from developing a "strict" sleep schedule, to taking melatonin or other nutritional supplements (preferably under professional supervision), to removing electronic/bright light/noise stimulation from your sleeping area. I don't feel comfortable giving you very specific advice, because I am just a fellow sufferer, not an expert.

But there are many, many methods to try at a non-medicinal level. I believe there is even a group forum regarding the topic of sleep here on 7 Cups to consult for ideas. Not all methods work for all people, so if you don't have success with the 1st 1 or 2 changes you make. Be consistent, persistent, and don't give up.

If your sleeplessness proves long-lived, and/or dealing with it on your own is not effective, please do consider professional/ medical assistance to address both the sleep issues and the underlying psychological concerns that may be driving them. No one will judge you, or think you are weak for seeking help for legitimate problems. You're only weak if you let this stuff control you when you can fix it with your wonderful, strong self!! :)

You're more than welcome. Now, if only I could get some sleep myself! Hahahaha!
