Why is this coming back now?!

I noticed a lot of my mental health started declining when I was in seventh grade, first starting with anxiety, then the insomnia, and the gnawing depression and lastly, the lovely eating disorder I had during that time. Now, I'm noticing a lot of it is coming back. Especially the insomnia. I'm not sleeping anymore. I don't feel tired when I should, yet I can't focus on my online schoolwork to save my life. My dilemma is, if I take a legitimate sleeping pill, I sleep all night and all the next day, and I hate that and the feeling it gives me afterward. I feel funky, like, I can't describe it. So, does anyone have any tips? (I've tried a lot of natural sleep aids, but of course they fail me too.)

Hi gjsiri

That's not great, hope things improve for you.

Try changing your routine before sleep. There are loads of different videos on Youtube to help with sleep, i.e. rain thunder, Bhuddist bells etc. Try counting down from 2,000, slowly, it's so boring, you should fall asleep. Maybe watch movies that make you feel good about things.

@gjsiri

I understand, I think your finding it difficult to switch off. Sleeping is really important, it helps the body to repair and heal itself. Try different thinks, meds should be a last resort, maybe even aromatherapy, try smelling essential oils, do some research on them first, allergies etc.

@rebel11 I would suggest candles, But I don't want anything catching on fire and me waking up to my house on fire.

@gjsiri

I was thinking more of just dabbing a couple of drops near your pillow on a hanky. Burning essential oils can be overpowering and long lasting in the room. Lavender, Vetiver, Roman Chamomile, Ylang Ylang, Bergamot, Sandalwood and Marjoram.
