NERDS! What are you currently playing?
I'm doing the minuteman playthrough in Fallout 4. Did the Brotherhood of steel play through and was underwhelmed with the ending of it.
What are all yall playing at the moment?
@DaveMcGrath
The game I enjoy playing is really old school nerdy. It's called Sim City. I love creating a thriving metropolis then creating disasters, like a Godzilla attack on my city. Probably not the coolest game or a game that's easily found.
@PeaceLoveandPaws
I loved playing Sim City in my time, liked building but hated it when disasters hit my cities 😶...great game of golden ages...
I've been playing less this week but I have put a small bit of time on only chill games. Euro Truck Simulator 2, Hidden Folks and Playne (meditation game).
@APlasticSeashell
oh nice, I just bought Civilization 5 off the steam store. Needed something relaxing to play and nothing relaxes me more than developing nuclear weapons to shoot at my neighbors.
(I know, I'm weird.)
:P
@DaveMcGrath
I think Civ games are must-owns for everybody on Steam, though admittedly I never got swept away by them myself. :)
The most I'ver ever really gotten into strategy games was something like 40 hours on Warhammer Mechanicus and maybe a dozen hours on Dawn of War 2 (does RTS count?) in co-op only. And I guess a fair amount of time on Divinity 2: Original Sin. Definitely more of an action-or-chill type of gamer, and always looking for more hidden gems.
@APlasticSeashell
I may have to give warhammer a try, will my bank balance survive this thread?
:P
@DaveMcGrath
I just started Space Marines (yeah from 2011 --- my Steam library of [unplayed] shame :P ) since a backlog group I'm in picking 'soldier/marching' as March's theme. It's actually more my style than turn-based strategy, but I really really enjoy Mechanicus despite being one. The writing is fantastic and I've really enjoyed all the tech-priest banter between missions. The dialogue for the game was written by Ben Counter of Black Library novels.
Dawn of War 2 I'm ambivalent about and am only playing pretty much because it's a co-op game with someone I like hanging with. :P
@DaveMcGrath
im playing minecraft & my new world is survival so im starting from square one which is pretty cool.
@enderdragon01
I keep meaning to give minecraft a try. I seem to have plenty of free time these days, maybe i will give it a go.
@DaveMcGrath
definitely give it a go! its a nice game because you can create things & feel happy
World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth
It's the kind of game where you can't really have the time to play other games haha.
At least that's how I play it.
Got three level 120s on the go; gearing them up, raiding, some pvp and arena and battlegrounds
Great for escapism - but also addictive
Then again, it's been going on for 15 years; I've played every expansion on and off over the years, on different accounts with quitting and coming back and fresh starts and all that jazz.
Pretty awesome how a game can stay with you for half your life.
I love it. Hopefully I'm here to stay with it now.
Then again, I'm already procrastinating work because I'm playing it so heavily...
Must...take...short...breaks...Must...not...make...it...everything...again
Haha
Then again, been going through a very rough spot in life once again, on rock bottom, and this is the game that's always there for me at my low points.
Wow... Did I really type and write this much about a video game?
Apologies for the essay - guess I got passionate haha
@SilverbackTiger
Didn't they release classic WoW recently? I played WoW back when it first came out. For the life of me, I can't imagine people today liking it. Seems like an entirely different concept/game.
@DaveMcGrath Yes they did. I was around in the Vanilla days too, my friend.
I recently got to level 40 on WoW Classic. Got the mount. It was too much of a grind and I haven't played it since.
BfA has alot of changes. Took me a few weeks of playing to really like it or get used to it. I was just confused the whole time haha.
I;m enjoying it now though. And the new raid is awesome fun.
@SilverbackTiger
good stuff man, I'm glad you are enjoying it.
@DaveMcGrath It's all I can play at the moment. I had to sell my PS4 a while back unfortunately.
So I'm waiting for the PS5... Should hit at the end of the year I think?
Then I can get back into proper gaming haha.
@SilverbackTiger
proper console gaming you mean..
:P
heheheh
@DaveMcGrath Very true lol
@DaveMcGrath Guess that will infuriate the tabletop gamers of the world? haha
@SilverbackTiger
or PC gaming purists. I personally don't care, games aren't how I make a living. Why be so serious if that's the case? Besides, mario carts on the nintendo 64, that is the high water mark of the group gaming experience and I loved those long nights in the dorm battling my way to Mario Kart supremacy (I usually lost. :P ).
@DaveMcGrath Mario kart has to be one of the best games ever made haha - a true classic.
@DaveMcGrath Hey I really like Fallout 4! I feel like I'm one of the few people who has 1997's fallout as one of their favorite games of all time, but also likes 4. It's a different experience from the other Fallouts for sure, but I really enjoyed playing it. Anyway, I've been playing a lot of PC Building Simulator! It makes sense because building and fixing up computers in real life is one of my greatest passions. And the soundtrack is great! A man named Gavin Harrison composed it. Can't believe he still hasn't released the score. "A Thousand GigaFLOPS Without You" is my personal favorite.
I love fallout! I did the minuteman playthrough it was awesome 😊 at the minute Im replaying Persona 5 and just waiting for animal crossing to come out!
Anyone played Black&White in old times? My ex-wife knew I liked strategy yet I never neglected family life over games so I was very surprised to find myself with two CD-s, black and white. I found the game cumbersome in mouse mouvement magigal signs and in ambiguous story...not a good game but a great gesture...
I'm in between games right now. Life feels empty after beating Outer Worlds and I haven't found a game to fulfill its void, though I did try with Untitled Goose Game and Fallout Shelter. I might need to replay that or one of my other space games like Mass Effect. Or, you know, beat one of the games I already have that I haven't touched in years.
@jbrittain I really want to play Outer Worlds!! Is it wonderful? ☺️
@AnnaDewitt SO wonderful. Short in terms of gameplay but wonderful and rich in content and companions. Lots of opportunity for snark. And the representation is wonderful! You so rarely see Asexuals or Autistic individuals in anything, let alone gameplay. Also, some Really tough moral decisions made in game.
@jbrittain that sounds really good! I am waiting to see what the switch reviews for it are like before committing to either switch or PlayStation.
Not sure if this is nerdy enough but Animal Crossing New Leaf. I'm taking being mayor far too seriously apparently.
@shiningFern4476
Have never heard of it, but will google it. Sounds like fun tbh.
@DaveMcGrath
