What are your favorite video games and why?
Hello everybody!
My name is Andrew and I am a listener here on 7 Cups of Tea. I just found this forum section and thought it would be a great opportunity to start to get involved in conversation with other gamers.
So my question to you is: what are your favorite video games and why are they your favorite? They can be for any system, including the system in your response would be even more awesome! I personally game on my PS3 and my recently bought PS4.
Here is a list of some of the games I like to play:
Grand Theft Auto V - Though this game has violent aspects to it, I really love the online play. The constant competition is something that keeps me busy and the race for money and power keeps me intrigued. I really love the immense amount of customization and immersement that the game allows because I can truly enjoy role playing in that whole world. I recently started playing on PS4 which opened it up to so much more and I really do enjoy it.
Battlefield 3 - While this may be a bit outdated with the releases of Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 1, I still really love this game. I still play on the PS3 so the servers are not always full but the maps and the gameplay are really fun. I love the teamwork that is in Battlefield as a whole and the actual tactic used as opposed to the wild play of other games like Call of Duty.
Fallout 4 - I have not actually played this game a ton yet but I enjoy what I've done so far. I played a bit with a friend on his system and liked the gameplay so I bought it when I got my PS4. I tried it with some of the mods but I am going to stick to normal, vanilla gameplay for now to just see how the game goes.
Counter Strike: Global Offensive - I actually play this game on PC but I don't have a great one so I don't get to play often. I find the playerbase hilarious and I think it is just a fun fps game.
Little Big Planet 2- This is the final one on the list, I have this game for PS3 and I have to say, I really enjoy playing the custom maps people do. They tend to put a lot of work and humor into it which just makes it a fun game to play in my spare time.
I am excited to hear from you all about your favorites!
~ Andrew
Takken, wwe, gta5 , call of duty ,need for speed..... My all time fabbies
Difficult question, I love any game a with good gameplay and storyline. My favorites tho are Life is Strange, Beyond Two Souls, The Last Of Us, and The Walking Dead.
My favorite video game is FarCry 3
Current-Gen Games:
Nintendo Switch: Super Mario Oddesy (I love Mario games), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
PS4: Rocket League (multiplatform), Assault Android Cactus, Everybody's Golf
Recent-Gen Games:
Wii U: Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario Maker
PS3: Burnout Paradise
Retro Games:
SNES: Super Mario World, Zelda: A Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger
Sega Genesis: Sonic the Hedghog, Sonic 2
Sadly enough I don't own a console and even though there are quite a couple PS4 games I would love to try, I feel like buying a PS4 would turn out to be a waste of money, especially because I need to be careful with spending because I need the money for therapy. This doesn't stop me from playing PC games though :)
These are some of my favourite PC games:
Alice Madness Returns: This is the very first game I played (apart from the Sims and stuff like Freddi Fish :p) so it has a special place in my heart. I saw a review of this and it looked so beautiful and just needed it, I didn't care I didn't know how to game haha. It's a dark retelling of Alice in Wonderland and my favourite thing about this is the world building. The different themes and it really gives off a nice wonderland vibe. It has its flaws and some glitches but that doesn't make me love it less :) (If you are interested in playing this game, I should mention it can be triggering for some with a traumatic past of abuse. I wouldn't want anyone to have a bad experience because of this game)
Bioshock: This is my all time favourite. It was one of the first games I played and I love it so much. The games in the franchise all have an amazing story (and some plottwists which I love) but I can't get enough of the mysterious city that is Rapture. And the use of plasmids to battle instead of only weapons is something I really like about these games. If people ask me to recommend them a shooter game, this is the one I go for.
Undertale: It's just such a wonderful story with lovely characters and amazing music! A good thing about this game, you don't really need to have any gaming skills! Because the battle system is so unique even a master shooter has to get used to it. I would recommend getting into this game without looking up anything, or maybe just information about the different kind of routes you can take, that can be helpful to look beforehand. I regret playing this after having watched a playthrough of it first, but on the other hand, without watching that playthrough I may never have gotten into it at all :)
Ori and the Blind Forest: This platformer is the most beautiful masterpiece I have EVER seen. The graphics, the music, the story. It is all so wonderful! I will never be able to get over how pretty this game is. It can get frustrating at times though, I remember there being a part that took me DAYS to finish (note: I am not the most experienced gamer though haha) but the fulfillment I got after finishing that bloody part, it was 100% worth it to try and keep going.
I really like RPG's. I've played all the Pokemon games since Diamond/Pearl, and the latest one I've picked up is Hollow Knight. I like playing platformers, even though I could use some practice XD. I also like to play League of Legends, despite the toxic community. I haven't finished Pokemon Moon Ultra or Hollow Knight, yet, so I'll be working on those for the next while.
The Last of Us. The story and the atmosphere and everything. And the soundtrack. It's just--it's such a pretty game.
I love super mario and mortal kombat. These were the ones from my childhood (I couldn't afford many games so these are the ones I played).
I also love the sims 2 and 3 when I want to relax and have fun. Recently starbound has became a favourite aswell , I play it with my boyfriend
My favorite genres are (A)RPGs, action-adventure and shooters. Though I like other genres too.
I love way too many games, but I'll still try to list some of my favorites. I apologize in advance for the long list!!
I've played most of these games on PC.
Grand Theft Auto V: I used to play it on PS3 every day for 6 months (on singleplayer), only doing half of the main missions, because I had too much fun doing random stuff :D
Then I got it for PC and played both the singleplayer and multiplayer (usually with my fiance and 2 of his friends)
I love its beautiful realistic graphics, the small details, being able to customize almost any car, the funny dialogues (the best one in my opinion), the crazy characters (Trevor is my favorite), how it makes fun of society in general, and how the devs somehow knew that players would do all sorts of things and added so many reactions and scenarios to the game (e.g. when you shoot Michael's house with a rocket launcher as another character, he calls you and tells you to stop).
TES 5 Skyrim: I'd say almost every RPG lover eventually played this (or Oblivion and maybe the other TES games). It's a classic.
Good graphics (for the time the game came out), hundreds of fanmade mods (and fanmade bug patches because the devs couldn't bother), loot, endless fun, quests and quests and quests and quests, horses that can climb mountains, crafting, loot, weird books, sweet rolls, more loot, magic, swords and dragons. Also... Wabbajack. Wabbajack. Wabbajack. Wabbajack.
Borderlands 1 and 2: Extremely fun and unique, with many badass weapons (and dozens of weak clones, so have fun comparing each gun to find the perfect one), twisted but funny dialogues, interesting classes, cool art style.
My favorite character is Krieg and his odd love for shiny meat bicycles.
Besides, the co-op is absolutely perfect, easy to set up, not buggy, and with actual voice and text chat.
I wish all coop / multiplayer games were this good.
The Witcher series: A great RPG series, almost flawless. The graphics are amazing, the plot is intricate and interesting, the combat style is cool, and the DLCs are real expansions, not a petty excuse to get more money with a costume or a weapon skin.
Kingdoms of Amalur - Reckoning: Very underrated game, but I still love it. I played it on both PS3 and PC.
I like the plot, graphics, combat style, many skills and customizable weapons (though whenever i deconstruct one I have to spend hours loading and reloading the save until i get decent parts).
A real shame that the company went bankrupt, so this is the only game in the series. I would have loved it even more as multiplayer...
Dragon Age series: Fun RPG with choices that actually affect the game and the relationships with your companions.
I like the combat style and the fact that you get to switch between your main character and your companions at any time.
The plot is quite interesting, though the game can get pretty dark at times.
Sometimes it's hard to make decisions as they can be twisted and a compromise rather than end as a win-win situation.
Saints Row 3 and 4: I like how it's extremely random and weird, but fun to play. Don't expect a serious plot. Cool features and good co-op!
Pokémon Red, Yellow and Sapphire: I get nostalgic once in a while and I decide to play my favorite pokémon games. But the random fights in caves kinda drive me insane and I'm not a huge fan of turn-based games. Still fun and unique game series :)
Assassin's Creed 1 and 2 (haven't played the others yet): Parkour, stealth(ish) and justice. I couldn't ask for more! The historical references and detailed ancient cities are great too.
Final Fantasy series (singleplayer): Like I said, I'm not a big fan of turn-based games, but FF still never fails to entertain me. Always fun to play and a classic.
Final Fantasy XIV (online): One of my favorite MMOs. (Sorry, FFXI, you tried)
Has quests, side quests, dungeons, raids, many different classes/jobs (and you can have them all on the same character, yay!), a fun combat system, crafting, gathering, dyes, hundreds of items, weapons, armors and clothes.
Despite the fact it can be grindy when it comes to leveling up, it's still pretty fun.
But beware the Duty Roulette, you can find all sorts of people... and they're not always great. Use caution!
Beyond - Two Souls: Yes, yes... I would consider it more of an interactive movie with awesome and realistic graphics, but I really like it.
Its interesting and deep plot makes it a great "game" and I'd absolutely recommend anyone to play it. Also, Ellen Page.
Played it on PS3.
Life is Strange: At first it looks like a cute game about teens that might make you nostalgic and identify yourself with the protagonist.
But as you play more, it gets dark and pretty twisted. I was disappointed and shocked, because I expected a completely different game, but it's still great. Very interesting gameplay and cute art style, too.
Only after finishing it, I noticed the foreshadowing in some scenes and so even the beginning is creepier than you'd think at first.
I've played the main game and then the prequel - they came out at that order, so I obviously couldn't "unplay" the main and play the prequel before it. I'm not sure if I'd recommend playing the prequel first anyway, because it's fun to look for small details that you might have noticed in the main.
L.A. Noire: It can be pretty dark as you'll be a detective looking for clues and investigating several murders. The game is set between the 40s and 50s, so the art style is very original and has many elements of (take a wild guess..) film noir.
Bully: Fun game, a sort of GTA set in high school. I've played it mostly on PS2 and a bit on PC.
You can use bats, eggs and slingshots instead of guns, you can't drive cars but use bikes and scooters instead.
You can make pranks and be a bully or finally bring some sort of "justice" (through violence tho) and get back at the bullies for picking on weak students. It's very cynical and witty.
Dark Souls series (I've played only the first tho): A great game series...
...if you want to swear a lot, get frustrated and eventually learn from your mistakes.
The devs did not make this easy on you, and you'll have a love/hate relationship with the game.
Wouldn't recommend if you like relaxing games.
Tabletop Simulator: A simulator for board games that you can play on your own, with friends or strangers.
Mods from the Steam Workshop are a must as that's where you get most of the games for TTS.
It's quite fun. Can be either relaxing or frustrating, depending on the game you pick.
Dynasty Warriors series and similar games: I love hack&slash and combos, so I think this series is great!
The singleplayer and local coop are really fun. Sadly only few have online coop... and for some reason this mode is buggy.
Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2: My favorite games of the series.
Despite the fact that I think the plot is way too childish and corny (because of Disney.. sorry), I love the combat style, combos and gameplay. The art style is quite original too. The soundtrack is probably my favorite of all videogames.
I used to play KH1 and KH2 (both on PS2) every saturday afternoon after school. It makes me very nostalgic.
Beside those, I'd say my favorite is Birth By Sleep, but I haven't played it anywhere as much as 1 and 2.
Overwatch
Cause im good at it
