Shinrin-yoku
Many people, including John Muir and Henry David Thoreau have written about the healthful effects of a walk in the woods. The Japanese have actually been studying it for a few years; the beneficial effect of the sights, sounds, even smells; the aromatics given off by conifers, on mood, blood pressure, even T-cells and immune response. They've developed a process of meditative, mindful hiking they call Shinrin-yoku; "forest bathing", where you really attend to the full experience of being out in nature. Think of a hybrid between light day-hiking and Thich Nhat Hanh's mindfulness walking meditation. Possibly the most difficult part is finding companions who are comfortable with (or even capable of) being quiet; it's an activity that is sometimes be best done in solitude.
