Eyeshadow Palette Declutter
No makeup hoarder shaming please! I’m hard enough on myself. Hi all. I’m a huge makeup addict (and I work in cosmetics but am not licensed). However, I’ve been looking for a new job, so I’ve decided to Declutter my makeup. I have been trying to size it down for a while now, but I keep thinking to myself, if I move...I can’t have a mountain of makeup. So...I got rid of roughly 28 eyeshadow palettes! I feel so much better. Normally I would feel terrible...but I keep thinking about my partner and my future (we are long distance). I think about how much I’d rather be with him than have all this makeup. That was my motivation. I feel like I have a collector’s mindset—one I have one thing, I have to have the others. It’s a struggle. I don’t know why I’m such a pack rat. I’m going to go through my blushes next. Even still, I have like 50 eyeshadow palettes left. I will probably need to go through them one more time. 17 of them roughly are sentimental or displayed as art or from my mom. So it’s really not about those, it’s about the others. Anyone else have this problem?
Good job on removing 28 eyeshadow palettes! That’s a good start! I think we all have something we collect...some people do that with video games, cards, shoes, hats, etc. I think it’s part of being human in a way. Although I can’t offer advice, I think you are making progress already with what you’ve done. All the best as you keep reaching your goals, you got this!!
Thanks for the support ❤️❤️ I think I have too many categories I collect within. I also collect old gameboy games or cool video games (but I play them all the time). I have a habit of buying old books but they are for reading so I never see that as a bad thing, if I can gain more knowledge from them. Sorry for the ramble! I really do have too many things is what it comes down to. I go through phases. But you’re right, one goal at a time!

Sephora has a ton of stick ons... caveat: I never figured out how to use them properly. I bet Refinery29 has some buyer's guides. Might check them out myself!

I am working on the same problem with makeup, too! I am now trying the idea that if I don't wear 50% of the colors on the palette, it's gone. Keep up with your sorting. I know decision making can be difficult, but you've got this!
