Finding balance when life gets overwhelming

Balance is something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. Life doesn’t really slow down, and when everything piles up, it’s easy to feel drained or out of control. I’ve noticed that when I don’t take time to reset, I end up burning out, which makes it even harder to get back on track.

For me, balance comes from small daily choices, not just big moments of “self-care.” Things like journaling, taking a short walk, or even stepping away from my phone for a while help me clear my head. Sometimes it’s just saying no when I feel like I already have too much on my plate, even if it’s hard to do. I think resilience plays a role here too, because balance isn’t about avoiding stress—it’s about learning how to recover and keep going without losing yourself in the process.

I also think balance looks different for everyone. What works for me might not work for someone else, and that’s okay. It’s more about finding what actually restores your energy and focus.

Discussion

  1. What’s your go-to way of regaining balance when life feels overwhelming?

  2. Do you think balance is something we “find” or something we have to actively create every day?

I agree with you completely!

It's not about one big thing but about multiple smaller things!

I like to check in with my mental health daily and be honest with my feelings!

I like to laugh daily, send time doing things I love, be with people I love, not cutting myself off, not letting things progress, or build up!

It's easier that for, before anything escalates and I end up feeling worse!

  1. What’s your go-to way of regaining balance when life feels overwhelming?

I do a few things to regain balance. One is to sleep to rejuvenate myself. Also, spending time with my grandson helps when life is overwhelming. Nothing like being in the present with a baby to help cheer you up. Another thing I find helpful is binge-watching my favorite shows.

  2. Do you think balance is something we “find” or something we have to actively create every day?

I think balance is something we have to actively create every day. By the way, what a great question.
