How do you remind yourself to be kinder to yourself?
Being hard on myself comes way too easy. I’m working on showing myself the same compassion I’d give a friend, but I don’t always remember in the moment.

- What do you do to practice self-compassion when you’re being tough on yourself?
- Do you think it’s harder to be kind to yourself than to others?
@Xaiyaa5 I started re-training my brain ages ago, so when I'm self critical, I spin it around to positivity and then say, maybe I made a mistake or the wrong decision but that's ok, we all do it. You'll do better next time.
It's definitely easier to be kinder to others, I'm detached from them. I want the best for them, when it comes to myself, the ingrained negativity I grew up in, has stayed with me, so it's more challenging to treat myself well as I'm constantly fighting those hurtful ongoing comments.
Yes, I definitely relate! Growing up I had to be perfect and could hardly make mistakes. This caused me to be extremely hard on myself but I too have been trying to rewire my brain.
@Xaiyaa5 It's an ongoing thing, so take one day at a time. We are just ordinary people fumbling through life and actually through making errors we can learn from them :)
That's a rough childhood though. I was just made aware I was very different to everyone else because I had trouble adapting and was sensitive.
