Self Awareness

Self-awareness is something I didn’t always understand. For a long time, I thought it just meant knowing your likes and dislikes. But I’ve come to see that it’s deeper than that it’s about being honest with yourself, paying attention to your emotions, and trying to understand why you react the way you do.

As the Growth Path explained, Self-awareness is the capacity to engage in thoughtful introspection and maintain a deep connection with one's own thoughts, emotions, and innermost desires. It involves possessing an accurate and genuine understanding of oneself, along with the ability to manage and govern one's own behavior.

This definition really resonates with me because I’ve been learning that ignoring how I feel or pretending to be “fine” just delays healing. But when I slow down and ask myself honest questions like “What’s really bothering me?” or “Is this reaction about now, or something deeper?” I start to understand myself better.

Being self-aware doesn’t mean I have it all figured out. It means I’m learning to be more honest with myself and that’s a big step toward growth.

What’s one moment when being more aware of your thoughts or feelings helped you make a better decision?

@specialNatural3801

When I became aware of how I feel in certain situations, it allowed me to:

Stop pushing people away.

Have fun.

Live in the present.

Realise, I deserve happiness and love too.

Not to overthink things.

Communicate more effectively.

I don't have the answers to everything and that's ok 💜🥰
