Are You Really Sorry?
~~Sorry, Not Sorry!
I have been told by others that I say I'm Sorry a lot. Someone was recently telling me it was not necessary to say I am sorry for everything. Did I really listen? Am I really sorry? Are we really sorry? And what exactly are we sorry for? I think that as people, we can gain more respect in our homes and careers if we quit apologizing for everything little thing.
I am guilty of this. I apologize for everything. It is just a habit now. I am going to make a point to stop apologizing unless it is necessary.
Now, there is the opposite, when we know of those that never apologize, just ignore them and move on. I will try this with you. Let's try this together and let me know how you are doing with this and practicing what else to say instead of ?I?m sorry?.
I believe it will build our confidence and let our strengths shine. Do it with me.
Now, there are times that we need to be sorry. When we do, let?s apologize authentically. If we don?t need to, then just don?t. That's it! Sounds easy, but it is a habit that I, and maybe you, will need to break.
Sorry, I?m not sorry.
@Alwaysdreamin - I'm fascinated by the over-apologizing thing - I think this tends to come up a lot among certain groups and while apologizing when wrong has been done is good, apologizing when there's no need undermines our power, our confidence, and our influence.
