The first step is to acknowledge the problem, the second is to seek help, and the third is to accept help.

These 3 steps can make or break your life - do the right thing and put your health first, you deserve to be happy.

I know that they are disappointed in me, and they think that I should feel the same way.

But I'm not. My confession is that I'm actually really happy with myself.

I know the feeling, and it truly sucks! Although, It does get easier. What usually helps me when that particular feeling sets in (feeling as if I'm a disappointment to someone) I pay it forward (a random act of kindness without the idea or desired of getting something in return) or get up and do something that I know will satisfy my own personal needs.

You ou are amazing ☺️

I don't want to stop cutting. I know I should want to...so I want to want to. But right now, I just don't. It's easier to not fight it.

Why don't you want to stop? I understand logically you do but what is it about the cutting that you enjoy or that makes you want to continue it?

User Profile: mjiyn2010
mjiyn2010 September 5th, 2015

I suppose it's more about the difficulty that comes when I try to stop. It's all I think about. And then it's a battle with my mind ALL THE TIME. And that tends to spiral out of control and any progress I've made with overcoming my depression is out the window. It's a vicious cycle.

Do you think part of you likes the internal struggle?

User Profile: mjiyn2010
mjiyn2010 September 5th, 2015

I don't like it, not at all. The internal struggle is the terrible part. It's the part that always breaks me when I haven't cut for a while. The cutting is what always seems to calm the struggle.

So your cut free for a while, get this internal struggle and then as a calming force cut again. What do you think takes you from being cut free to fighting yourself? Really what's your trigger before you have the internal struggle? Is it just seeing the scars, remembering you cut or something else? Discovering the trigger will help

@mjiyn2010

The more difficult the task - the better the reward. Greatness and success rarely comes easy - of course you don't want to stop, you wouldn't have started in the beginning if you completely hated it. We all struggle, we all get better and we all get worse. But there is a light on the other side of the tunnel - you don't have to do it alone. If you're ever struggling or feeling down, feel free to send one of our experienced listeners a message.

Thank you so so much for those encouraging words! I'm doing my best to immerse myself in the community here for support and it's helping a bit. I suppose I just get extremely frustrated with how slowly I seem to progress. I want to just wake up one morning and have all of this just be a bad dream.

@mjiyn2010

All you can do is take on step at a time - a 1000 mile journey always began with a single step. I remember how frustrating is was for me - after trying so hard I felt that I was getting no where, but perseverance is key. Persist and you will achieve. You will never get to a point in life where you can say it is still waters from now on - there will be dips and highs and lows all through life because that's how life works. If you find yourself slipping, understand that it's just life's way, and soon you'll reach a high point again. A knight in shining armor is a knight who's armor was never put into good use.

I threw out all of my cutting implements today. I guess that's a place to start. I'm nervous now about how the next few days will do because I usually freak out when I know that I don't at least have something around if I feel like I need to cut again. Baby steps though, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Everyone thinks that I am perfectly okay.

Seriously, no one even suspects that I have all this doubts about life and all these weird mix of feelings inside me.

But i guess that just means I pretend well, everyone comes to me with their problems not even realizing that I'm terrible inside.

I want to tell my parents, I do, but they probably wouldn't believe me, and how does someone even talk about this?

You just started. There are things that I wish I could tell people and recently I started too. I waited a long time to find the right people in my life who can support me emotionally. I wish my parents were one of them. I think my father was open to some things but I still feel as if my mom is closed to things. She doesn't understand it and I don't think she will. I wish that part of our relationship was different but it won't be. I have started to accept this but it's still difficult. What has helped me is just posting here. There are times when I literally stop what I'm doing and just post here to get things out.

@HopefulSky

Sometimes it can be hard to tell a parent or trust a friend - maybe a good place to start is to talk to a stranger. If you ever feel down or need someone to talk to you can always send one of our listeners a message. It's going to be a tough road, but at least you won't have to do it alone.

Kids are neither good nor bad. Their aesthetic sense does not have to be one they understand. Most then is made of desire. Moreover and almost equal, most then was made of curiosity. Who else squished ants because there was so many, they were so tiny, so in formation, oddly colored, etc? .......... Hummm.

I have two. Tw for the second one...

I've been wanting to do a one on one chat here, but my anxiety is too bad. What if I screw up by saying something stupid or can't type fast enough?! What if I annoy the person? What if the person hates me?

Tw for self harm

I accidentally spilled hot coffee on myself, but wont let it heal and haven't stopped wanting to do it again since. Normally, it wouldn't affect me like this, but I've been really struggling with life lately. I don't want to relapse with self harm, but I'm afraid that's what's happening. :(
