Years ago I remember thinking how 'Wolf's rain' would make for a neat live action transition as a high-concept HBO show with a similar number of episodes, give or take 'the filler' episodes.

I don't think it would be too difficult to cosplay as any of the main wolf characters *particularly for the suggested actors. It could also make a neat movie hopefully not the 'hit or miss' kind but a more successful adaptation easier to pull off than 'Alita: battle angel' given how relatively low-key the show was even w/the dystopian fantasy and sci-fi elements.

The silly thing about hearing or seeing about armies like the N.Korean one or anywhere where drafting or conscription service is still a thing is it's not a 'display of strength' when you think of not only how much of that army is inactive in that compromised of civilians but also how in the end of active and trained contract / career soldiers might scantly be a thing, not the least b/c it will mainly mean that a fair amount of that army is essentially put into doing labour tasks which are not militaristic by nature a/o 'at worst' (think Stalin, WWII and being told to shoot anyone retreating/turning back for irl example) it'd mean a stupid notion of 'throwing so much ppl to be cannon fodder that the other side needs/will to run out of ammo'**.

I mean before then, 'expectedly' dark(er) skin, curly hair and round noses* I got but the part about thicker lips I remember hearing about later somewhat before learning about the uncomfortable history of minstrel show like depictions.
