'Dragon ball: the path to power' : feel good anime movie

the less said about how maybe ~+10% of the anime video essays, reviews etc on YouTube which have piled up for the past ~15 years are about a franchise which is heavily overwhelming to the frivolous and likely Mark Hamill style weary and regretful Akira Toriyama, the better for now.

While it does feel like a 'rip-off' when anime movies are basically simmered down, barely modified rehashes of episodes from earlier seasons, what Bennet 'the Sage' White once said about how the 'DBZ: path to power' movie encapusulated the essence of 'Z' applies to how Path to power* is one which I'm confident enough to say is an example of a 'feel good anime movie', is to the original series, pre-Z and the 'hyper power aliens fight !!, fight !!, forever !!' vibe the rest of the franchise has.

It's the 'seeing/exploring things through the eyes of a child' vibe which Toriyama made w/ his o.g. claim to fame (Dr.Slump**) with the more action oriented original Dragon ball. There is a kind of gentleness which I like in how the animation resembles the GT*** series even ending the credit roll with the ~'Dan!, Dan!' song. It's a nice touch if you think that GT tried to be like the original in spirit even if it was deeply difficult for the increasingly exhausted Toriyama to follow up 'Z'.

* while a semi-modified version of the earlier Dragon ball episodes and 'Red ribbon army' arc

**a series where imo his more real earnestness always rings through

***alternatively less intense in several ways -- I know it has a contentious reputation not the the least b/c of debates on canonicity, not helped by the 'Super' and it's apparent mixed reception. I have fond memories of watching GT dubbed in Spanish while on a vacation and 11.

I would say that (watched yesterday) 'Always be my maybe' has more 'feel good rom com' feel for all it's crudeness than say ' Crazy rich Asians' did with it's conspicuous classist prejudice tropes. The depiction of 'friendship to post-friendship' among two 'apparently 2nd gen offspring of immigrants who are still very much their own individuals' and from two performers who are d--n aware of it irl is appreciated.

It makes not having been able to see 'Don't think twice' w/it's promising trailer, less of a drag.

Verified. YouTube rental.

'Don't think twice' can be considered a 'feel good flick'.

Defnitely not in the same vein as say the first 'Land before time' but enjoyable and a quasi-meta, low-key take on the struggle of comedy based acting and improv.

Dijere esto while I remember, while I haven't self-deluded myself..

individually for me, I don't think that life drawing has been 'as effective' a sublimator of sex drive as I wanted it to be.

I know how it's different for everyone, I know how it'd be different..if more consistent practice.

practice v. practise diffferences..?..

For similar reasons I'll say how when it comes to current/scant experiences w/dating websites it's intimidating how much autonomized/ sociable others seem to be (successfully adulting as it were) when looking at their photos.

I might have really dived into social media as far as forum conversations go but I shouldn't be hard on myself for never really having jumped the bandwagon of cultivating a welcoming/fashionable image w/it.

The platform/forum occupies a place btw 'things which are too embarassing to put out in a more public forum but which are better not bottled in b/c that would be unhealthy'. Below DA and Twitter but above the impatience and clunkiness of my irl journal.

Never underestimate how Catholic guilt can give you enough angst to be a death metal vocalist.
