The perception/ relationship btw my usual higher-up and me reminds me of how contempt btw my mom and the mom of the ex-husband of one of my aunt's.

We have to remember that by the time DBZ caught on during the late 90's to early 00's in the U.S. and Canada the series had already been finished it's run ~+5 yrs prior in Japan give or take GT. The narrative structure and tropes of the series and (I would still think the entire franchise even to ‘Super ) is based on what was more so in vogue in the 80's. It makes me think how all the more ‘bratty derailing ‘the big 3 Shonen (Bleach, Naruto and One Piece) would be come nearing the mid 00s and onwards, franchises which when there animes arrived dubbed, were maybe only ~2 yrs offtrack from the Japanese broadcasting; over the years Pokemon (starting more so from Gen.IV onwards (?)) has improved at not keeping the tie-in media too offtrack from what Ive understood . The crowds in those days: a fair amount were still learning to disengage from ‘merchandise tie in (or at least ‘the mon ) series.

I think this unwitting fandom chronological dissonance might have applied to the reception of Gundam Wing and Gundam Seed as well.

When it comes to keep the talents and abilities of characters intact in a video game narrative for fighting games at least, I can imagine that itd be pragmatically beneficial that ‘big event spanning time travel stories be done for the fitness of characters to less ridiculous. ‘Mortal kombat 11 did that and I wouldnt be surprised if the Tekken franchise were to do that if it continues-- Kazuya, Lee Chaolan and Ganryu among others are pushing 50+ in age.
