No Space to Recharge
Since being in this pandemic I have noticed a lot of change within myself. Some good and bad. Overall I have been able to become much more self aware for which I am grateful. I’m starting to be able to read myself and interpret what my own needs are. I am a naturally independent and introverted person. I cherish my quality alone time, to have the time and space to reflect and let my brain enjoy peace. I enjoy being with loved ones of course but my body feels better after taking myself out of the public area and into my own space to recharge. Since the pandemic has started I have been unemployed and mainly confined to my home environment. I have a roommate and life with my long term partner as well. They are both great and I appreciate them both, but it has been easier for them to get on my nerves. They’re both extroverted people and feel best when around others and having spirited debates about who knows what. That works for them and that’s great. I just find that space to be draining for me. It’s over stimulating and just exhausting to me. I try to take naps and they will be talking 5 feet from my door. I have had to intervene a lot more and demand respect for my own space. I have to make a point of telling them to leave me alone and to go back to their own spaces. I’m an introvert surrounded by too much noise and too many people. I have not had the adequate space and time to fully recharge myself. I look with bright eyes to the future and hope we can establish a new normal soon and I am able to take back my own space.
I can see where that would be a challenging situation. Perhaps you could try ear plugs or noise cancelling headphones when you are trying to rest or recharge? I know for myself, I take drives in the car alone, and when the weather is nicer I go somewhere more remote and nature oriented like a park or forest preserve for walks alone outside.
Right now the weather is particularly confining but try your best to take/make time for yourself. It sounds like you are doing a good job keeping a positive attitude and perspective and thats a great start! 👍🤩
