Struggling with body image issues as a man

This is gonna be pretty vent-y, just a forewarning.

I've struggled with body image issues for several years now, and recently it's been at the worst it's ever been. It's difficult to go outside or go out in public because of how disgusting and unattractive I feel.

I have went to therapy for this, but my therapist is extremely dismissive and unhelpful in this matter. He typically just ignores what I say and just tells me to "hit the gym more", despite the fact I already live a very active lifestyle. It's like talking to a brick wall.

I can't help but feel like less of a man. I shouldn't be having these issues, it's pathetic. It's gotten the point where I avoid mirrors because I can't stand to see my awful body. I'm getting so exhausted of knowing that I'm this gross, ugly, undesirable, worthless creature. That's all I have to say for now.

@ProtoDaylight Hello! I hope this message finds you well. I want you to know that no matter what you look like, you are not disgusting or awful in the slightest! I also want you to know that I see you and I hear you. I want you to know that I am very proud of you for finding the voice to vent on here. More men struggle with body image issues than you realize and you are not alone! I also want to ask, have you considered finding a new therapist? He shouldn't be dismissive like that at all and you deserve to be heard. You will get through this and everything will be okay. Self image is a process that many people struggle with, so I promise you are not alone. We are always here for you!
