Stuck

This Pandemic sucks. I’m a first year college student and I’ve never set foot on campus. I feel like I’m just stuck at home. These are supposed to be the most important years of my life and I feel like I’m somewhat withering away in my house. I go through the same routine each week and try to have little adventures to look forward too but those are few. I feel like I’m on pause, just stagnant and not moving. I feel like I’m missing out. I’m just having a moment and the emotions are getting to me. I created a class schedule this semester with classes that I found interesting and knew I’d enjoy but I’m finding it hard to be motivated and interested in those. I feel like I fill my day with things to do just to get to the next day and the cycle continues. I have a handful of friends and that’s about it. I mainly talk to my partner and family who have been great. I feel stuck and confused. I don’t know where to go next or what to do (if there even is anything for me to do). I don’t know. Anybody else feel like this? What do you do to get out the slump?

@Artemis02
I can relate so deeply to your experience. I'm in my first year too and it has been a tough year. You feel like what if the major years of your life are wasted this way and it feels hard to make new friends in this setting. I'm glad that you have your girlfriend and your family with you. I've been able to learn to have fun alone and I think that'll be a skill that will be useful in life later. And yes, I understand how it feels like you are being repetitive with your life. I hope we get through this soon and have fun in college and use the things we've learned during this time. Take care and hope it gets better!

Hi Grace, I’m glad I’m not the only one out there experiencing this. It may feel on pause now but at least, eventually, we’ll get there. And you’re right this is a huge learning experience for everyone and a chance for us to build our skills. Thank you for your response. ❤️

@Artemis02- thank you for sharing your heartfelt description of being in a slump. So true- being stuck at home with few people in your life. Hopefully many will get vaccinated and this pandemic will be under better control. THat is what I did back in Febuary- knowing it may free me up to be around other people. Otherwise- I get myself outside for a walk every day and look at something with fresh eyes. I try to be grateful that I am healthy- as well as my loved ones. Life will not be on hold like this forever- and pat yourself on the back for simply getting through the past year. TAke care.

Thank you. It’s been year but we did it! I too am just trying to surround myself with family and the things I love. Acknowledging myself and giving myself a reward or treat here and there to feel good.
