my journal: various subjects, opinionating, CW at times
The title explains itself.
If you're interested in the ramblings of a middle-aged man with chronic conditions who, at times, sees things a little too clearly for his own good, then read on.
Sometimes I get political, but it won't be all the time.
I don't mind comments in general but if you're going to differ with what I write, that's fine--as long as you can explain your position clearly & reasonably. Rants, shouting & general incoherence will be ignored or flagged, depending on the situation. Try to remember that not everyone else in this world holds your beliefs.
Every so often I may post art or snapshots of projects I'm working on.
If you're still interested after reading all the above, great. (I do wonder at how much time you have on your hands, though)
There are people (mostly young) who are full of compassion...They have so much of it for their fellow humans (or animals) that they have a longing to solve everyone's problems, to "fix it all". But when you've been around the block a few times, lived in a few different places & met enough people, you eventually face a hard truth:
Some people are beyond help.
It's not nice to say, & unpleasant to think about...unfortunately, however, it's the truth. The cold hard truth. It has probably been so ever since the first city-states emerged in what is now eastern Iraq some ~4,000 years ago; it will be so for as long as humanity exists in our current form. There are people who, because they've been abused beyond endurance or for want of good genes or for whatever other reasons, simply cannot succeed in this life. Their brains &/or bodies are too f***ed up; their minds are too shattered (or shriveled by the worst drugs for way too long). They just can't be fixed.
It's unpleasant to think about...& even more pitiful to see.
Tired of waking up with my heart going 60+ mph.
It's like, WTF? We just regained consciousness here. Am not even supposed to be in 1st gear, let alone f***ing 3rd...

You know, don't you, that our brains never evolved to where they were supposed to take in & process this much information on a daily basis?...you're aware of that. Right?
..
Consider: for > 98% of our species' existence we lived in hunter-forager bands of up to around 30 people, usually fewer. We woke up at around sunrise & went to bed at sunset or after sitting around a campfire, after dinner (if there was any). There were no neon signs anywhere, no streetlights or LED displays... Most of all, there was no Internet, (anti)social media or 24-7 news cycle.
All the horrible s*** going on in the world--just as it always has--& I'm supposed to believe in a benevolent omnipotent god...
Am in a somewhat better mood right now, because of the following:
Yesterday I drove up to Jax1, got dinner, had my little adventure2 & then scavved the concrete. In so doing I filled most of the truck bed & squatted, lifted & threw chunks to the point where I was sweating like a hog when I was done...had to take my shirt off. I drove back to my land, unloaded the rocks & laid down to sleep... Now my arms feel slightly sore. But it's so slight I can ignore it. My lower back is barely tender at all. My legs don't feel any different; nor does my stomach even though I clenched my abs almost every time I lifted a piece of concrete. All of the above is true, plus the last medical appointment I went to I weighed in at > 200 lbs. for the first time ever. Which was depressing. Now I'm reconsidering what that meant.
Yes, I need to shed some excess weight & most of it is around my midsection. Most--not all. My shoulders look slightly thicker than before I started looking for land to buy (last year). All of which is to say that physically, I might be in better shape than I thought.
It's nice to think about.

2locked myself out the truck. 🤪 I called a local locksmith...luckily their mobile guy was very close by.
@slowdecline48 I think it's a pretty good indication that you're in pretty good shape if your muscles weren't too sore from all that lifting and throwing concrete that you did. Good for you! I have locked myself out of my truck too many times 😂 I think I finally learned my lesson though and haven't done it in months.... Probably shouldn't have said that 😂
In a few minutes I'm gonna slip into my armored jeans, sharpen the chain on the saw, then fill its tank & fire it up... I mean to clear some space for the base of the rock pile. And take down at least one middling-to large tree if possible.
If two weeks pass with no entry here or comments anywhere else in Cups-Land, you may assume that Murphy worked his malign magic & I'm either in the hospital or dead. I doubt that will occur since I take precautions, but you never know for sure in advance...
Wish me luck, folks.
Whatever you do, never go off your feed. 😵💫

Apparently the poem I wrote back in May of '23 is quite a hit in this community...it's over two years old & occasionally, still gets a "🤍" from somebody. 38 of 'em at this time. 😕 You can find it under "my doggerel" in the Poetry forum.
Feeling tired of life....
