Daily Log: Overhauling my habits and mindset to build a focused life
Hi everyone! I’m using this post to stay accountable as I work on a major life transition. My goal is to move away from old, negative patterns and build a more stable, objective, and disciplined lifestyle.
Currently, I’m balancing a full-time job while preparing for higher-level exams. I have a few specific areas I’m focusing on:
My "Action Plan":
1. Daily Accountability: I will post here regularly to track my progress and stay on course.
2. Sleep Hygiene: Lights out by 11 PM. To ensure focus, all electronic devices will be placed in another room overnight.
3. Better Fuel: Replacing fast food and processed snacks with proper meals, fresh fruit, and whole foods.
4. Activity: Maintaining my regular exercise and reading routine.
5. Social Practice: Since I live alone, I want to keep my communication skills sharp and stay positive. I plan to engage more with online growth communities and aim to reply supportively to at least 2 people daily across my digital spaces.
6. Fact-Based Recording: I’m adopting a "Fact-Only" journaling method. Instead of focusing on temporary moods, I will record concrete actions (e.g., "Completed 3 hours of study," "Ran 5km"). This helps me stay grounded in reality rather than getting lost in negative thoughts.
I’m striving for an "explorer mindset"—focusing on what I can do today rather than what I’m worried about for tomorrow. If you're also working on yourself, let's keep each other motivated!
Day 11:
Never be surprised by human nature. Don't admire other people, and don't be jealous of them.
I finished 3 books this weekend. All three books cover how to learn a foreign language and how to achieve "addictive learning"—the scientific method of self-education. I was so glad to read these books, since it's an opportunity to communicate with extraordinary people; to communicate with those who had experienced those same struggles and found a way out. Currently, I am operating on a dual-track system. As time passes, it seems like I no longer have any excuses to stop fighting. I want to use their methods.
Gratitude diary today: I found that I really like sleeping. It allows my brain and body to take a break. I need to save sufficient time to sleep!
