Introducing Carl
I saw a piece of advice this week, that said you should give your anxiety a name and adress it by that name to stop it from taking over. I would like to introduce my anxiety, Carl.
Carl, has a bad habit of running his mouth when I want to go to sleep. He loves overreacting and tends to be more on the irrational side. Carl and I fight A LOT. Carl has many friends, I don't like Carl's friends, but they always seem to be invited to the overthinking party.
Anyway, stay tuned for the adventures of Carl, featuring many of his closest friends, whom I will introduce to you in due time.

On today's episode of The adventures of Carl: Carl goes to the gas station.
Some days, like today, even a simple task like going to the gas station get Carl all gassed up, pardon the pun.
I was fine until Carl decided it was time to check off all the things that could possibly go wrong when getting gas.
There will be people there. People scare you. Like, duh, who else is gonna pour in the gas? (We don't have self help gas stations so this requires talking to an actual person for help)
You will have to talk to a person for gas. Your social skills really aren't great. Okay? That is normal human behavior, isn't it? Just ask for an amount of gas and pay the man.
Just don't say something stupid. Like what, I just ask the guy to put gas in the car!
Did you count the money? Yes
Count it again.
Is it still the right amount? Yes
Are you sure? Yes
Just make sure one more time. Still the same, Carl. I can count.
You sure? Yes!
Ooo look, its that guy. What guy?
That guy who you told him you liked him and he ghosted you completely. Do you have to bring this up now?
He is looking at you. (Cue pannic)
Hide! Where?!
Anyway, after a few minutes of prentending I didn't see that guy and semi hiding behind my wheel to avoid awkward eye contact, I got my car filled up eventually. And guess what. I survived and nothing when wrong other than the brief appearance of Carl's friend Pannic. Luckily Pannic doesn't always hang around for long and I am able to shut Carl up and continue with my life.
