O.S. Journal - New Beginnings
Hi everyone. You can call me Oak, or OS for short! 😊
Today, I like to make a journal entry here about my experience so far on my listener journey before I go away on a break for awhile. Feel free to comment after reading. 💙
Although I've joined here as a listener not too long ago in May, it was quite a wild ride for me. My first few days were a bit hard for me because many people have misunderstood me.
But I am truly grateful for being able to find myself a coach, who is now my mentor. I'm currently trying to learn a lot of things. Sometimes I feel like it's too soon for me to hop over here to this side of the platform. But it was worth a try.
One of the main reasons I wanted to be a listener was because of another listener who took in my general request several weeks back somewhere on that week between March and April when I came back to 7cups as a member. He became my frequent listener and the best I ever had.
However, during early May, I was informed he's been going through health issues. And this happened recently after I saw an announcement on the first week of May that he was one of the listeners who passed the QLP. I inquired for an appointment with him and it was the first time I didn't hear a response for a long while until he managed to reply back. And that was the last time we ever talked.
Some where along the week prior to my first day here as a listener, that's when I decided to register and go through the training process online. Another one of the main reasons was because I felt grateful of being supported here on this site, and I felt the courage to want to give it back by also helping others too. Even though I'm currently still going through my own recovery, I also hope to learn more as I continue along this new journey at my own pace.
So far, I've been able to make time with a few people I've met the past few weeks. And I'm glad I've been able to help them out by making them feel heard and understood. At least after my first day, I received those better conversations. Additionally, I've also been supported by a few other listeners I've met and reached out to for guidance.
It's quite a short experience as of now, but it was a great one in terms of entering a new kind of territory and learning the ropes. I will also try to get a better hang of communication. Being in a text-based chat setting can be difficult to understand the social cues and such.
But anyway, I'm very grateful to be here as a new listener, and I'm looking forward to more experiences on this journey.
Hope to see you again.

Awww we've all had/ still having ups and downs as a listener here, and again, just part and parcel of 7cups-life. The great thing always is that there's mentors and kind peers here to support us, guide us, and offer a space to lean onto and learn from them when needed! 💛
I'm so happy you wanted to carry the ripples you received from your time as a member and pass it along by supporting others as a listener here too. Sounds like you had an eventful journey so far, and I so hope you have many amazing experiences ahead. Always in time, at your pace! 💛
Have a good break, Oak! 🌻
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou thank you so much for your kind response. I'm glad to be back here now and continue to to reach out to people here as well as willing to continue to help out others. 💙
