Take a video for your future self
Hello fellow journa-ers, (journalists?)
This week I will be turning 29. I feel old because of it sometimes, especially when I'm at school, so I'm dreading this birthday a bit, which I know is sad. So this morning I was thinking about how I keep comparing myself to other people (which is something I have posted about before). I started to think about how I should remember that I have been through a lot; it's not my fault that I'm not exactly where my friends are with life and marriage. They haven't survived what I have survived, and perhaps if they did, I would be "ahead" of them.
So I took my camera out to talk about this, and the way it flowed turned it into a sort of "letter to my future self" kind of thing, just full of reminders that it is good that I am who I am and that I have lived long enough to dread it 😂
This is the same thing as having a diary or a journal, I believe. It's just different because you can see yourself and hear how you sounded when you captured it. Maybe in a year I will watch this video and feel better about turning 30. Only time will tell! Literally!
But even if there isn't some kind of special milestone that you're hitting right now, you could record a video about yourself and what your goals are. What you are doing that day, and you might inadvertently reveal the beauty in the mundane.
I just wanted to share this idea with you all, because I love you and I think it is awesome that you do what you do every time you write!
