There is hope, and it may be in places you didn't think it is
I've been through some really tough times as an athlete at the highest level for my age. It comes with pressures and stressors that not many people your age can relate to. I started supporting Lando Norris, a Formula One driver, in 2019, his rookie season. He was honest, hilarious, and someone I genuinely enjoyed watching race every weekend. He was always seen as an underrated driver who had a bright future ahead of him. In 2024, he won his first race, a feat achieved by only 14% of drivers. He started receiving a lot of hate from the community. Since there are only 20 F1 drivers, so much media from all is done, and unfortunately, all of them receive hate in one way or another. Some more than others, and Lando is one of them. He has always been an ambassador for mental health, and in a sport where being vulnerable is hated on and where it's seen that only drivers who don't care what others think are successful, Lando breaks that mold. He has always said that he cares so much about what others think that, even as one of the 20 best in the world at his sport, he still doubts himself and struggles with self-belief. He also shares with the world when he is doing well and not so well. Today, he became a Formula One world champion. This has only been achieved by 35 people in sports over 75 years. He has completed the greatest achievement in all of Motorsport whilst staying true to himself and honest with others. As an athlete, it has been so incredibly inspiring to see him do this and it gives me hope that my time will come. Hope is out there just maybe in some unfamiliar places! 🏁
