Is anyone else like me?
Hey everyone!
I am a gay teen from Iowa and I'm not out to my parents yet. My mom is extremely catholic and she has expressed a dislike towards the LGBTQ+ community a few times. Just the thought of having to come out to her is terrifying. I just can't imagine what life would be like without her. We have a great relationship and I don't want that to get ruined. If it does come to it I have someone lined up to take me in she's my best friend and she happens to be lesbian and her parents are much more accepting of it than mine. But again I can't even imagine not having my mom who I have grown up with just stop talking to me and basically disown me. I hope someone has a similar situation because I would really like to talk. If I may interject? I would like to ask you how terrifying is it to you to be untrue or a liar to your mother? More important is how terrifying is it to be untrue or lie to yourself. You are you, nothing can change that, and I would like to add shouldn't . Trying to conceal yourself may very well damage yourself with unwarranted emotions like shame and fear. Find support in others. I won't promise this will work out the way you want. I won't promise your journey will be easy. I will promise to you that you will not need to do it alone. I have question, have you thought of talking with your friends parents. They maybe a good starting point for finding support.
