Gender Dysphoria

Hey everyone. I just recently found this app and thought it would be a good place to find some help. I don't have anyone to talk to about this because my family is not really supportive and my best friend is a straight cis female so she doesn't really understand what I'm going through. I identify as gender fluid but I have been feeling really different lately. I've been feeling really masc and really just like a guy. I haven't felt this so intensely as I do lately and I'm not sure what it means. I'm AFAB and have always been a tomboy but as I'm getting older my dysphoria is getting worse. Now I can't even look in the mirror without crying and I hate having female anatomy. I only want to wear clothes that are marketed to men. It would really help if I could have some people to talk to so any help you can offer would be great. Thanks everyone

Hey, first of all, welcome to the community! Your feelings are totally valid by the way:) Well I am not sure if there were episodes like this in your life before this one but for some people, especially those growing up in pretty conservative environments, genderfluid is a transitional state to finding out that they actually do identify with a single gender that is different from their sex. It doesn’t have to be though. It could just be an episode, too. Either way, it probably is not the most important thing to label yourself right now. As someone who is also questioning their gender right now, I know that one wants to label oneself to have a sort of peace but it shouldn’t be as important. Most importantly, you could try to accept what is happening, give it some time and if the feelings persist, consider using a binder or anything else that might help you with gender dysphoria. If you want to talk about it in greater depth, feel free to message me:)

Thank you Lisa ❤️ I've been thinking about getting a binder but I'm afraid it won't flatten my chest enough since my chest is pretty large so I'm not sure what to do about that. I've been wanting to go shopping in the men's department so I can dress and look how I'm feeling but it's really hard with a religious, conservative family because I'm always judged and told it's a phase or that I'm going to hell or they'll just say I'm a tomboy. I kinda feel like an alien in my current body and it's making life harder than it already is.

@bubblelycheeboba Hello! I wanted to give a warm welcome to 7CUPs as well. I understand how frustrating gender dysphoria can be, especially when growing up around people who may not be understanding or accepting. I used to bind often and it can be worrying that it may not work well for your body. I think this is a decision that is up to you. If you want to try binding and you think it can help with your dysphoria, I fully support it!
With feeling more like a male lately, that can happen sometimes with being genderfluid. There are times where you may feel like one gender for a longer and more intense time period than others. Everything that you are going through is extremely valid. Thank you for sharing this <3
