Telling someone

i’m going to a concert w my godfather oct 8 shawn mendes and i don’t know if he would accept me if i were to come out there. he’s said things against it in the past but he’s also defended it like “as long as they (referring to the lgbtq ppl) don’t shove it in my face idc”. i don’t want his view of me to change as his goddaughter cause he’s super important to me either- like is there better ways such as a causal convo to gauge if he doesn’t care, supports etc?
