Friends?

Hey guys,

I’m not sure how to begin this conversation, and I apologize if I sound repetitive. Growing up with my family was challenging in general, and things became even more tense when I came out. My father wanted me to pursue a career in football or wrestling, but in the end, I became an over-pleaser, sacrificing my own well-being to please others. I felt like I was disposable as long as people were happy, and this mindset stuck with me for a long time.

Thankfully, with therapy and the support of my mother, who has been my only great resource, I’ve grown into a more self-aware and overall happier person. However, my father’s return to my life due to my brother’s illness has reopened some wounds I thought were healed. I realized that outside my close circle, I have no friends or anyone to rely on. I lost many friends because I disappeared for a while.

Despite these challenges, I’m genuinely happier with myself now. I feel more whole and complete than I have in my entire life. I wanted to reach out to see if there are any other people out there who are looking for someone to talk to. If you ever need someone to vent to, I’m here for you. I understand how important it is to be heard, and I want to be a supportive presence for anyone who needs it.

If those identifiers are significant to you, please know that I’m a gay man.

I agree whole heartedly in regards to that. I always feel like it comes in waves, but once you weather the storm. The end is always worth it.

I appreciate you responding and would love to chat. Always hard to find anyone to chat at times.

Yeah, I've been on my own healing journey as well. So so worth it. It's interesting cause I've always described such journeys as waves too, especially as a way to describe pain, grief and struggles along the way.

But I agree, it's hard to find people to chat with consistently. I'm always down for a good chat about pretty much anything, so feel free to bring up any topic ya like, or even vent if you want. Alls awesome!
