Attempting To “Cure” Homosexuality… [CW: Queerphobia]
Hello, all you lovely folks of the LGBTQ+ / MOGII Support Forum! As a nonbinary & queer teen listener, I love taking chats on LGBTQ+ issues and have been doing it for some time here on Cups. I've heard stories of dysphoria and euphoria, resilience in the face of unsupporting parents, tales of love that could make you swoon, and so much more.
However, a topic that frequently comes up is the youth who approach me to "cure" themselves of their queerness, to "fix" something so fundamental to their being. As a listener, I'm obligated to adhere to professional standards and empathize with every person with who I speak. However, it does break my heart to hear stories like this.
So I figured I'd put this message out there if, by chance, any queer folks need it: whatever you feel regarding your gender and sexuality is not just valid but what makes you beautiful, unique, and yourself. I know the path to self-acceptance, especially when you lack a support system or accepting environment, is difficult — but you are not alone in this. If this subcommunity proves anything, we are all on our journeys to navigate this facet of our identities.
I wish you all the self-confidence you can muster on your path forward. You're complete the way you are and have so much to be proud of. Best of luck! ❤️

Thank you for this wonderful post! I have also had many conversations with people about this same topic, and I know just how important this is and am so thankful that you are sharing this. I hope that many more people will get to read this and that anyone who is struggling with this will find comfort.
Best of Wishes,
