after all these months i have come out as being gay and it is the best thing i have ever done and would not change it

It must be a hard time the past few months, but I'm glad that your were able to get something out of this. Being different than the majority is totally fine. The thing is, most people don't even know what they really want or what their true self is like. They struggle in the dark, kept questioning themselves. That's what's sad. But you are one of them. You clear know who you want to be and you accepted. That is the hardest step. If people around you don't understand you, don't let them affect you. You are just you, no one can make choices for you. Your life is in your hands and I know that you will succeed. Set a goal, and work toward that goal. You are not alone. There are many people like you in the world, and they all have to face this.
