Purpose Over Pleasure: What Almost Cost Me My Family
I want to share one of the hardest lessons I've ever learned in the hope that it helps someone else avoid making the same mistake.
I'm a bisexual man married to an incredible woman that I love deeply. She has known about my bisexuality for years, and over the years we've had on-and-off conversations about the possibility of opening our relationship. Recently those conversations became much more serious, and I genuinely believed we had reached an agreement.
I was wrong.
Looking back, I confused talking about something with both of us being emotionally ready for it. Those are not the same thing.
The decision I made caused an incredible amount of pain to the woman I love and nearly cost me my family. That realization has been devastating.
One of the biggest things I've learned is that purpose has to come before pleasure. For me, my purpose is my family. My wife and my daughter mean more to me than any sexual experience ever could.
My wife accepts me for who I am. She accepts that I'm bisexual. Right now, the boundary we're both comfortable with is keeping our marriage between us, and if I need to express that part of my sexuality, using a strap-on or *** instead of involving another person. If that's what our marriage needs permanently, I'm okay with that, because protecting the family we've built matters more to me than chasing another experience.
If you're thinking about opening your marriage, slow down. Keep talking. Make sure you're both genuinely ready before either of you acts.
If I could go back, I wouldn't act at all.
No moment of pleasure was worth risking the years of love, trust, respect, memories, and the family we built together. For me, the cost was simply too high.
I learned the hard way that some experiences can last minutes or hours, but the consequences can last a lifetime. My purpose is my family, and if I had truly kept that at the center of my decisions, I never would have put my marriage and family at risk.
I still have a lot of healing and rebuilding to do, but I'm committed to becoming a better husband, a better father, and a better man. I hope sharing what I've learned helps someone else protect the people they love before it's too late.
@CradleDuck
Thank you so much for sharing .
For your honesty.
And for being so open.
Sometimes we have to do what's right , rather than what feels right 💛
