question about binding

September 18th, 2021

i know it's not safe to bind while you sleep but does this just apply to binders? or other methods of binding too? i had a late night yesterday and went to bed without changing, i didn't have my binder on but i did the folded tank top thing. doubled. plus two other layers. i may or may not have woken up gasping for air because i couldn't breathe, could be unrelated though 😀

It's not safe to sleep or exercise no matter how you bind and is unsafe if you do it for too long also. If it was 8+ hours then I wouldn't call that safe in any regard

@ROBBER yeah it was 21 hrs... and right after taking it off i put on my binder, which is still on. so almost 24 hrs of binding. i know i shouldn't do this but it's really hard to take it off

I understand the struggle and that it's very hard, but I genuinely swear to you that it's better to take it off than keep it on and risk permanent damage to your chest and rib cage. Please be safe.

You should see if you can bind with KT/trans tape, that’s the only method of binding that is safe to sleep in (it’s actually unsafe to change your tape everyday) if it works for you that would be epic! And you wouldn’t need to worry about over binding, definitely look more into taping specifically for binding as there are different “rules” and I only know surface level info about it (It didn’t work for me).
