Am I a lesbian or bisexual????

Hi, I'm 17 years old and I'd identified as bisexual since middle school. I have dated a few women and one man, but have only had sexual experiences/genuinely kissed women. Recently though, I had my first sexual experience with a man and it left me feeling sick to my stomach. I'm not sure why though???? Even just thinking back on the situation makes me feel repulsed; like the idea of doing is disgusting. But with women, I have never felt like this. So now I'm questioning my whole identity????? I don't know what to do??? I've taken quizzes online and read articles but nothing is really helping and im getting mixed messages. I've always preferred girls very strongly over guys, despite my one relationship with a man. I'm just so stressed about this. Could I please have some advice on what you think this means????

Hi, I'm sorry you're going through this, I totally relate. I'm still figuring these things out myself and I'm even older haha. I think labels are meant to empower you. So if you don't feel empowered by the label bisexual or lesbian, then you're not required to use them. Maybe even the term queer would work better for you? You can be the judge of whichever label makes you most comfortable, or even no label at all!

One other thing, please don't feel like you have to force yourself to be with men just because you have been with a man in the past. Sometimes people are in heterosexual relationships because of feelings of internalized homophobia/compulsory heterosexuality. But it can be damaging to your mental health if you force yourself into sexual encounters which make you feel disgusted or repulsed. Please just take care of yourself and your needs. Do what makes you happy before anyone else! I hope things get better for you soon! heart

Hi 🙋‍♀️ Basically we have a strong connection with people irrespective of gender ... if we are meant to be with someone and feel safe with them that’s all matters and hence labelling self is not required... just feel the love 🤗

@calistalikesfrogs Hell girl, I'm 32 and still feel that way and identify as bisexual. There have been a few times where I wasn't repulsed with men, so maybe you just need to find the right guy. But I often find myself thinkihng that I must be a lesbian because I hate being with men so much most of the time. I can have fun in the moment sometimes, but still feel repulsed afterward. Honestly, the only time I can think of that I WASN'T repulsed by a guy was when I was dating a bisexual man for a while and took time to get to know him before sleeping with him. I still love women a hell of a lot more. But I know that I find guys attractive at the end of the day and get a thrill out of flirting with and sometimes being with them. Whether that be in bed or in a romantic or dating situation. I think if you find it fun to date and flirt with men and you still find them attractive sexually or physically, you're still into men. You just didn't have a good time with the one you slept with.

As a side note, I still struggle with my sexuality even at 32 and I think it's totally okay to consider yourself fluid or queer if you're just not feeling it with men. Just to clarify, I have done it myself many times in my life. I have considered myself a lesbian three times in my life. I have considered myself bisexuaal for most of my life, but I have also identified as Fluid, Queer and Pansexual. I agree with the other ladies here and feel that you don't have to stick to one identity. You change throughout your life and it's totally okay to change your sexual orientation along with your personality changes. I have and you can too. Just wanted to share my experiences with men and my changing sexual orientation throughout the years. I hope my story helps!
