Am I the only one?
Hey
I'm 22 and I'm in my first serious relationship with another girl. I've been attracted to both sexes all my life but this is the first time I dated a girl longer than 2 months.
So I guess my question is does anyone else get really nervous about being excepted by others out in public and do you ever feel like you have to hide it when at work or out to dinner?
I work with the elderly and my girlfriend gave me a promise ring. They always ask me about if I'm engaged and what's HE like. I never know if I should lie and tell them she is a he or tell the truth and risk losing that person as a client.
What are yalls thought and maybe advice?
Ive realized in my 24 years of life, I am happiest when I embrace who I am. You dont owe anyone an explanation or a defense.
When it comes to work, you dont have to disclose personal details since, it is WORK. But if you are comfortable enough with yourself, why not? The most important critic in your life is yourself.
Hi it's all about what you are comfortable w. It's not bad to not disclose person info at work. I tend to keep thinks like that quiet because I don't handle it well when people make ugly remarks. I have also been harassed (by cis men) at work when people have outted me in the past so I'm not open to sharing more. I like to say I don't like discussing my personal life at work. Do you know your work policy on it?
It's great if you feel comfortable and confident to handle it though. I appreciate people who can be more open w it and respond well. Out to dinner or in public I don't mind being open about who I'm with most of the time since it's not a place I have to show up to frequently or depend on for income.
