Hello, so I’ve only recently decided I like women. Do to homophobic parents, I’ll be keeping this to myself for a while. I’m 24 but my parents are still influential to me. I’m writing a book (partly based on my homophobic childhood and my secret attraction to women). In the story, my MC realizes she is falling in love with a woman. I was wondering if anyone could share experiences with me. I’ve never had the opportunity to be in a lesbian relationship. I hope this post doesn’t get hate!

I had a similar experience in my late teens. It's wonderful that you're writing about it! One thing that helped me was having supportive members of my extended family. Another was simply moving out and becoming financially self-sufficient. The more independent you are, the more you surround yourself with people you respect and admire, the less you'll need your parents' validation. At least, in my experience. I hope that's somewhat helpful!
